OC vs. The Valley - Which one is better?

OC vs. The Valley

If you had to choose one of the two, which would it be and why? OR if you wouldn't pick either, where (in LA) would you pick?

Palm Springs - Screw that sitting in traffic for hours to go 10 miles, or waiting an hour to get a table for dinner on a normal Tuesday night, or having every movie sold out all night long on any night. Best thing I ever did was move out of that cluster fuck, plus it's actually sunny all year round out here.... and models will gladly travel to here for shoots.

Silverlake. Los Feliz. Even Hollywood. Almost anywhere besides the Valley and the OC.

From what I hear, most adult models will barely drive to Glendale for a shoot, let alone Palm Springs. Not to mention, for nightlife??... wtf is going on in Palm Springs - absolutely nothing.

I think that only pertains if you are a stranger there. Locals know what's up . . . . even if it is all gay.

Yeah, the electric bill runs about $500 a month in the summer, but it's so worth it. Pool right out my back door. And no monsoon season like in AZ - Just year round sunshine.

We've got a good name with models. Bree Olson, Sunny Leone, Keri Sable, Faye Reagan, ect. ect. ect. have all come out here (multiple times). Lori, my production manager rocks! Plus, no filming permits since I'm not in LA County.

About 50% of the year round population is gay which is actually awesome. Makes for a very, very liberal city. Mayor is gay, Police Chief is gay, and over half the city council is gay. I guess if I was gay it would even be better, but I still benefit from the liberal attitudes of the gay population.

Then I would suggest OC. The Valley's weather is too extreme for me. It is always hotter or colder than where I live. Plus you have the mountains that hold in the smog. It is a lot better than it used to be, but it is still there.

I don't really go to the OC much, but the beach communities there always seem to have close to the same weather as me. Their traffic sucks, but they have some nice wide streets in places.

Southern California sucks. Traffic, crime, smog, and insane housing costs.

I'm in Northern California north of Sacramento. The weather here is nice, no snow, no traffic, no crime, no problems.

if you're interested in being in the "center" of it all, i'd say the valley over OC hands down. don't get me wrong, OC is beautiful in parts, but a 1-2 hrs away (one way).
here are a few cities where you may wanna look in the valley:
studio city, sherman oaks, valley village, toluca lake. north hollywood is ok is in some parts, very divey in others.
just remember santa monica (the beach) can easily be 60 mins from north hollywood area. you may REALLY wanna do some homework.

I agree. Just watch the show "Real Housewives of the OC". That show is dead on! NO way could I ever live in the OC without strangling someone on a daily basis. I mean, LA county has some serious problem areas but there are pockets of greatness.

Yea, I like clubs, partying, not sitting at home watching TV.

Seems like the the OC is a more slow-pace, laid-back, suburbia... ICK!

If I can avoid it, I will never leave OC... Love living here. Close to everything, quiet when I want it to be, and decently nice almost everywhere I go.

You're on crack. Crime is not bad in the OC and traffic is only bad if you can't plan ahead. You just learn the schedule and try to set your appointments around it.

OC, LA, IE all are geographically close but worlds different (I've lived in all of them). It really depends on your likes and tastes, even age. From a business perspective, OC (mainstream), LA (pornstream).

Personally, OC is laid back and majority of it is new in terms of landscape, buildings and people..the majority of OC people are transplants so you don't get that hometown feeling, but you do get diversity and a beach culture.

LA is very different and has a larger more spread out feel, centralized entertainment with some old school charm, overall a larger metro lifestyle and feel.

OC = New Money
La = Old Money (or entertainment money)

OC is like 311 - LA is like The Sex Pistols

so far the best party atmosphere - it's LA hands down right?
I can dig 311, but after I listen to the CD once, I'm good for a few months.
