Funny story on your puppy though, I can just see him getting chanced and having the look of HA HA HA HA HA and the other dog serious like I am going to get you. I could watch that all day. LOL
I actually did watch it nearly all day. The other dog was about the biggest beefiest and meanest springer spaniel I've ever seen, and he ("Joe") was hell-bent on tearing Sully a new one. Round and round the cabin he chased Sully, but my dog was just too fast for him. Sully kept turning as he ran, looking back at Joe like "Hey isn't this fun? hahahaha!" :D

Joe eventually quit and went to lay down for a snooze, all tuckered out. Sully took a walk with us down to the lake. lol

Btw I hear you on the bad back and the no running thing. With my back I can't run for shit either, just short spurts and that's it.... certainly nothing that would give a good-sized dog any workout. I used to have my first dog (25 years ago) chase me while I rode my motorcycle around the bay, and he got so fast it was scary, from that. So the mountain bike thing just seemed to be the way to go with Sully and sure enough, he took to it and used to go crazy with excitement whenever I'd take the bike out with us.

I brought her into the doctor’s office, she had to stay in the waiting room but she loved everyone and wasn't shyin' away at all. So she is growing already. I could see it in her little eyes when she walked around the room, she had the, "Yes I know I am beautiful and everyone loves me" look. I was a proud Mama. It was funny too, well not funny GREAT, no one believed that I had only had her for two days. When I went back to talk to the Doc they said she had a constant look of worry or wonder of where I was. That made me so happy, sad, but happy. I don't want her to add to her worry list like that but I guess after everything she has been through and then having someone who loves her like I do she is going to feel that way. Nothing I can do about that.
Totally natural. It's actually a very good sign, that she is becoming possessive of you, and protective. In all the years I had Sully it didn't matter how old he got, if he saw me from his place in the back yard and I was leaving the house either by car or walking away he would yelp for several minutes. During the years back in the 90's when I worked a job it was an almost daily thing to have him crying and yelping every time he saw me going to work. It tugged at my heartstrings definitely, but the reward and trade-off was the look on his face and that bushy tail of his wagging 100 miles an hour when I'd return.

Her frame is pretty big for a female Shepard, IMO.
Sounds about right to me. Sully was 65 lbs at his optimum adult weight, and Coty looks to be a bit bigger than he was. That's the perfect size dog in my opinion. Not too small and yappy, not too much of a horse that will eat you out of house and home.

And thank YOU. I'm still getting over the passing of my dog and am not yet ready to get another one (although the urge is there), so I'm living a bit vicariously through you right now.

Sully sounds like an amazing dog. I hope Coty has as much fun and gets as fast and healthy as he did. There is a little bit of Sully in my Coty!

I hope you get a new dog soon. I read a book a few months ago called Rescuing Sprite. It was a great book, read it in one day about a man who didn't want to get another dog after his dog passed away. They had a dog named Pepsi already and he didn't think Pepsi would like a new dog and adjust fast since his other dog had just passed. His wife ended up going out and getting a dog his kids ended up calling Sprite. He kept saying he wasn't ready but once he got Sprite in the house it was all over. He ended up having to put Sprite dog from old age later on and of course I balled reading what he went through that day, but he soon went out and got another dog again because of what Sprite taught him. The whole point of the book was showing how much an older rescue dog can change your life and your thoughts. How much they brighten your life etc? you know how it is. There are so many of them out there ready to bring brightness and love to you. Of course you can live vicariously through Coty and I for as long as you like!

Oh I can't even think about puppy mills I will lose sleep and cry. I seriously have done it before. I can't handle it. I signed up on the Best Friends Animal Society website, they got a bunch of Michael *asshole* Vicks dogs, and I am a volunteer for anything they need me for and my first request was editing videos for YouTube about Puppy Mills. I of course couldn't do it but I got a friend to do it for me/them. I can't watch that stuff because I will get in my truck right now and go take care of each one and I know I can't do that because it won't help. It will just put me in jail and away from Coty, my animals, and life. What good am I behind bars? But I helped in the best way I could by helping the videos get out which helped spread the word.

If anyone wants to sign up on the website I linked it to the words above. Fill out the forms and check out all the little things you can do to help. There is so much you can do during your spare time, from data entry, mailing stuff out, editing videos, I can't even begin to mention all the duties they need help with. Check it out! It is really worth it and it does really help them. They take animals from all over the country. I plan on physically going to the ranch this summer and volunteering to clean animals and houses etc... It's in Utah about 2 hours from where I use to live and about 4 hours from Vegas. It is fun and they have a message board. You can sign your pets up and talk with other pet owners with your same pet. Share photos and stories. It's a lot like a MySpace for your pet but it's an animal shelter, that helps a lot of abused animals. I haven't put Coty up yet. I just signed her up to Home Again and took care of her training school. Anyway, if you are an animal lover, like me, check out the site. You will thank me later, I promise!

Her with our lil' 3 year old.
They are so adorable. I can't even think about someone kicking a little dog, makes me want to kick them right in the throat.

I didn't know you lived in Vegas. We should get together sometime for some drinks or whatever! Maybe Coty can play with your babies. She is really good with other dogs.

I can't treat Coty any other way than a Queen because that is what she is, a Queen!

I miss my german shephard. The ex-wife has her, I get to see her when I drop my kid off but its not the same as having her here all the time.

She is very well trained, knows all the german commands and has an awesome personality. Looks alot like yours but much darker.

I'm still recovering from his loss (http://www.gofuckyourself.com/showth...ighlight=Sully) Don't know if you saw the thread, but if you want to know more about Sully check it out.

I know it was 6 months ago but it was like losing a son for me, and taking him in for his final needles was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. Of course non dog lovers simply won't get that but that's pretty much their tough shit.

One day I'll be ready and I'll go pick out another dog.

I know what you mean. Oddly enough, the fact that Pudgie is so tiny yet so feisty makes her the character she is! We thought we had to put her down a few months back, but when the vet checked her out, she bit him. She wasn't ready to go!

Yup..I'm born and raised in Vegas! I'd def want to get the dogs together but our old lil girl is pretty grumpy with others and if I separate Kahlua from Pudgie, she gets bad separation anxiety!

Are you new to Vegas? I'm one of the few natives and I doubt I'll ever leave! If you ever want to get together for drinks or whatever, drop me a line! There are several of us Vegas people and it's always fun when we get together.

She is beautiful..... and bravo to you for rescuing her. I rescue dogs too and they make some of the best pets I've ever had. Where I live, people dump them off so often. Especially if they have babies, it's so sad.

A few months ago, someone dumped off a Lab and her two babies, she was all but dead but she was taking such good care of her babies that they were fat and healthy. She was a good mom, she all but died taking care of them.

I will definitely hit ya up so we can go out for some drinks. It would be great to have Coty there but I don't want to upset old lil girl! My emotions are tapped right now with upset dogs I can't handle anymore right now. haha I have to wait awhile to get my strength back!

My newest problem with Coty is her paws. I noticed she walked funny when we went for a walk and I assumed it was all due to her just being out of shape and not fed well, but I noticed her paw pads hurt her. So I think that is also adding in her walking a little funny. I grabbed one paw pad and got some bag balm on it, she totally yelped like it hurt her, but now I can touch the one paw bad that I quickly got the stuff on. The other paw pads she just pulls away from me and kinda sits on. Her paw pads are tearing up my comforter because they are so rough. I don't really care about those as much as I do about her pain. I can tell they hurt her. I read on a site that I could put antibiotic cream on them, put a gauze pads on the paw pads and then a doggie boot. Also to stand her in 2 inches of water that has Epson salt in it. The site said in about 10 days her feet should be healed up.

Anyone have any other suggestions? I am going to have to wrestler her down to get the stuff on her feet or trick her and just do one foot at a time, real fast, and get it on her paw and let her go. She whimpers when I touch them and she runs and hides too, poor girl, just another thing to add to her misery.
