Question about 1099's again

When filing electronically does my accountant HAVE to input all the 1099's in the pc one by one, I mean type in the name of EACH company name that sent me one and the amount, or is it enough if I include everything in the total income and just give him the amount? I am asking because I lost some of the 1099's that was sent to me, I have some of them but I'm missing a lot (lost them).

I am going to see the accountant tomorrow, last minute.

A) not a good idea to wait until the last minute

B) you need the amount for each company. Each company is going to file with the IRS that they paid you. The IRS is going to want to know where is the proof you filed taxes on that amount.

C) It's call BACK-UPS. Look into making some next time.

ok, thanks... last year my accountant didn't ask for my 1099's one by one tho... I thought it was ok not to include it as long as your income is higher than what all the companies reported/filed with the IRS.

Yes, I should have made back ups. That's a good idea.

And yes I do have a major procrastination problem. It's horrid.

You just need the total amount.

You can call the IRS and have them fax you copies.
