Fuck the following programs

Fleshlight Cash
Nasty Dollars
Funky Cash
ARS
Click Cash

These companies do not care about affliates. They will change their entire program around and not mention to affliates that they have changed and let you continue to send them traffic for FREE. They don't respond to emails. They will suspend your account with out merit so that they don't have to pay you. It is hard enough to make it in these times without people screwing you over because they are greedy.

Can you be more specific?

One of the above never responded to my emails even when i sent them 20 to 30 new joins a week, but its far from "screwing me over"

Curious what they did that warrants them being tagged by you.

Funky Cash-changed entire program with telling me to change my links
ARS-changed entire program without telling me to change my links

Actually, ARS gave everyone 2 weeks + notice of the change. Just because new program didnt work at that time does not mean we did not give everyone a heads up. You must have been offline not to know what was changing.

So at least change your fuck you to: ARS - Had a failed program idea 6 years ago and lost a bunch of money because ibill couldnt keep up and stopped paying.

While we have the ARS folks here, let's chat.

I think I've been through 2 or 3 different ARS lineup changes since 2002.

Write a bunch of site reviews, then they decide to... make all new sites.. And cut out all their old sites.. And redirect to sites we've never reviewed. The reviews are basically useless now.

So we deleted all of our work, then re-wrote a bunch of reviews, and... it happened again.

Then the last time I think it was "Adult Movie Matrix" sites.. So we did a few of those, but we can't write that many reviews because they were all called the same thing, a whole slew of them all "Blah Blah Movie Matrix" I did make an attempt to send them more traffic in 2007, by writing fresh reviews.

All I can say is that's it's been a downward spiral for us. I don't know what other people have experienced, but I have no idea how their 126216 different programs work, things are always changing, it's like a moving target. I hope you reps send this thread to Becky DeForest so she can take a peek. I doubt it.

Here's my experience from a sales point of view, as a solid review site. We've always had good ratios, you can see yourself my site is quality, anyone here will tell you that.

2008 - General/Niche 2,297 2,103 401 12 0 0:2103 $0.00
2007 - General/Niche 15,793 14,193 3,590 113 8 1:1774 $155.00
2006 - General/Niche 8,064 7,516 1,898 133 15 1:501 $260.00
2005 - General/Niche 12,039 11,223 2,568 130 40 1:281
$1,560.00
2004 - General/Niche 6,816 6,257 1,587 47 34 1:184 $1,090.00

2002-2003 doesn't seem to be working, not showing any sales.. We definitely made a bunch of sales in 2002-2003 with ARS though, I'm sure better than 2004-2005. I even remember ordering something through their points program, because in 2002 they were really one of the top programs out there.

Also look at 2005 VS 2006.. looks like they heavily dropped payouts any way you look at it. $39 a sale in 2005, $19 a sale in 2006!

Anyways I know we never heavily promoted them, but this kind of dryup is pretty crazy, especially the ratios. 1:184 to 1:1700 over a full year is nuts, same traffic. Overall site wide, we've been doing fine. I know, small amount of traffic, etc.. But anyways it's the stats and the truth, numbers don't lie, just wanted to throw it out there.

I'm sure if their site lineup had stayed steady we would have made more money too.

Get Becky DeForest in here!

I just checked to see how much we make on a very good converting program sending 15,000 clicks.. Also these are 2008 numbers, where ratios are worse, sales are down, etc etc. I searched from today backwards until I hit 15,000 unique clicks sent.

totals 1st page: 15739 2nd page: 6398 1:70 $5329.53

VS ARS in 2007: 15,793 14,193 3,590 113 8 1:1774 $155.00

Big thanks. How do you recommend I spend my $155? Parking tickets, perhaps? Or 2 fillups of my gas tank?

Hey Socks - Michelle rudely interrupted me watching the tigers game to get me to come in here and chat with you. She's awfully brave to do that LOL. Anyway, yes we did do a whole portfolio change in 2003 because of TMF threats for chargebacks and horrible member retention. Our solution didn't help anything and it was pretty awful. I've talked about this in other threads and don't want to get into it again here.

In 2004 I opened up my own company to create the paysites for the ARS program, and those paysites are still around. I do believe that we had to close approximately 5 sites because of 2257 reasons, but otherwise, the portfolio is intact and growing.

We never did drop payouts, but we did make changes to payout amounts depending on which trial price you were sending to or if you were sending to BYOTs (which have always paid $5 less). With the launch of ARS 2008, we took away the lower $5 payout to BYOTs and those now pay the same rate as the rest of the portfolio. All signups, including check signups pay the same rate as credit card signups.

As for dropping ratios, I do see that as well. And I don't think it can be pointed solely at ARS. I think all sites are experiencing downward ratios based on where the industry is and where it is going. But, I constantly watch ratios and try to tweak things to improve them as best I can. Recently, I implemented processing the BYOT program on my own merchant account (almost 2 weeks ago) and so far have seen much better ratios. I'm sure as the other sites get moved over to the MA, their ratios will improve as well.

I am always willing to work with all affiliates on their ideas and try to cater to their needs. So if you need anything, please dont hesitate to contact me. I'm always available.

mhende6600 - if you don't want to promote ARS, then don't. And thanks for stirring up the shit. I might be able to get a few affiliates promoting ARS because they see that I will be honest, take the time to share what is going on, and work them on a personal level to help us improve our relationship together. So thank you and GFY!!!

Oh and GO TIGERS!!!

Thanks you for taking time to respond to my issues Becky.

I don't fault ARS for site lineup changes, a lot of programs have done it, and I think I proved I'm not that angry since I went back and updated my site several times to adapt. I don't love being forced to do extra work or lose money, but you don't either, and we all want to make money together. I chalk that up to doing business. Whats a TMF?

As for how much you pay per signup, how did I lose $20 per signup, or 50%? I see you mentioned $5, but I'm talking a full 20 bones here! I don't know how much you pay me, I just know that when I divide totals by # of sales I get $19 vs $39. I'm still confused about that. You guys paid $40 a signup before! $19 is a long way off. I also traditionally pick the highest trial amount possible, to promote full month sales. I often turn off trials if the sites are good enough and I have a choice. I rarely if ever promote $1 joins etc. So I'm 90% sure whatever my linkcodes "translated to" after your change is what I was being paid on, so it's whatever you guys set it to! y'know?

As for ratios, we've all seen the decline. But 10x is not the decline we've all seen either. It's been a lot more gradual than that. I've seen ratios go from 1:200 to 1:400, but not 1:200 to 1:500 to 1:1700 to 0:2100.. I mean that's just appalling, I'm sure to both of us.

So what's the solution here for ARS affiliates? Am I to give you another week of my time writing new articles for ARS sites, after seeing how this has played out? I might even do it, but convince me!

What is ARS offering in 2008? Not to webmasters, but to CUSTOMERS? What are you doing to win over their hearts and wallets? I don't care about your new FHG's or 15 different linkcodes or 400 different internal programs. I hardly know what BYOT means, luckily I do..

All I know is I sell memberships to websites, as honestly as possible. What can I tell my customers to expect at ARS sites? What are they? Do they shoot exclusive content? Do you update them, and how often? Do members get access to a network of sites?

Just being honest, your program is confusing, even to me after 6 years of logging in.

I mean shit, just look at the Stats dropdown, this pretty much sums it all up:

Overall Stats
Paysite Stats
BYOT Stats
HSN Stats
XXX Stream Stats
Referring URL Stats
Campaign Tracking Stats
Period to Period Stats
WM Ref Stats
FHG Stats
HFS Stats
BYOT Owner Stats
FHG Owner Stats
CSV/PDF Stats Export

Hey Socks - On the per signup issue, without looking into it in more detail, I'm not sure about those payout rates. If you hit me up on icq (i'm not on right now) with your account number, I'll take a close look and get back to you on that.

Ratios - A lot of this can be attributed to stale sites in the portfolio with old content. To try to counter this, we started the one new site per week for a year to update with newer designs and newer content. Some of them work well, some don't. But, I even see fluctuations on sites from paid search traffic from one week to the next. I think that can be attributed to the processor. So, having my own control over processing can eliminate some of that.

The solution? Let's talk about what sites are doing well and see if you can target those first. I would definitely love to get another shot at your business. Currently customers get access to my entire database of content for both photos and videos. They can access via a niche drop down or via the site network drop down. The members areas are easy to use and have good search functions so you can easily find what you are looking for. They have a bit of web 2.0 flavor to them with the ability to rate, review, and tag content. They can browse by tags. They can also add content to a favorites section for easy access. And there is a ton of content for them to access.

What is ARS doing in 2008 for customers? The major piece is a whole movie content upgrade. I am having the entire DVD database re-encoded into much better resolutions and bit rates and offering 5 different movie formats for customers (currently four are offered). I've also set a limit to only buy content shot 2005 or later and I buy HD when I can. We are working on a few really great sites that will hopefully have great conversions. I am having HD content shot and new sites developed that will be released later this year. We are working on a new DVD site with a different billing model. These newer sites are being developed by very high end designers, so they will look very fresh and appealing. But I don't anticipate any of this to launch until later this year.

On the stats, yeah there is a shitload of information there. But I would rather err on the side of providing too much info over not enough info. You can track as detailed as you want with your stats to be able to tweak your campaigns right down to each link if you want to. And there are a lot of programs you get paid on that need to be broken out. If you'd like me to explain what each of them is, just lmk.

What this all boils down to is I can understand your frustration. I've been in this industry for 11 years and I feel it just like you do. The only thing I can do is to continue to work on improving products that customers want to join and I am most definitely placing my focus there.
