L.A. Lakers! How far will they go?

Playoffs start on Saturday. Lakers first game is on Sunday at Noon. They are playing the first round against the Denver Nuggets, which they should easily win. My questions is,

How far do the Lakers go in the playoffs?

Is that even a question? Our team is going all the way this year!....

They will get as far as New Orleans, where CP3 will be the car that Kobe couldn't jump over.

They may not make it out of the first round I mean Iverson alone can win a series. 6 foot even 170 pounds and undefendable he is the best pound for pound player in the nba. I know all you kobe pro rapist people will cry about that but check the stats IV3 all day over kobe

ROFL. He must be the best ever I mean look at all those championships he has won.

Maybe he should go to practice once in a while, instead of bitching that he is to good to have to attend practice like everyone else.

Say good bye to AI 4-1 and that is being generous. If Bynum is back for the playoffs, Denver will get swept.

Conference finals. They easily beat denver in the first round, Utah in the 2nd...then fall to the spurs in the conference finals.

History says kobe chokes and Lakers lose. No shaq no 2nd round. Only way I think they pass the first round is if kobe gets injured and that horrible shooting % goes away......

Against the Nuggets? Come on, Give them some credit. I say they sweep the nuggets, beat utah, and then play against phoenix for the rights to play in the finals...

Lakers lose first round after Kobe breaks a finger nail and sits out the fourth quarter of game seven.

they can't go anywhere without Bynum. end of story, Kobe NEEDS every bit of help he can get. Come playoff time without a decent big you go nowhere. Gasol is a SOFT big, a mid ranger shooter with soft D especially for a 7 footer.

It will be the Lakers vs Shamrocks, vintage NBA. From there, it's anybodies guess. If Bynum is back by then, I'll take the Lakers in 6.

Nope, that'll be Chris Paul.

Nobody gives the Hornets any love...everyone has the Lakers playing Phoenix in the conference finals, nobody here has even mentioned the Hornets. We are the #2 seed for crying out loud.

There's no need to guess....nobody is going to stop the Celtics this year (unfortunately)

They're just like the Patriots, except they get to play a 7 game series where a fluke win or a good day for the other team won't make much difference.

If they see the Jazz or Suns its over. I predict they either make it to the conference finals and lose in 5 or get bounced by Denver in the first round. Denver intrigues me with Nene, Camby and Martin. That rotation at the 4/5 could hurt you guys. Without Bynum you guys are soft up front. If Gasol doesn't deliver Kobe will try to do it himself and the Lakers will self destruct.

For the Nuggets to get past the Lakers, they'd have to begin playing some semblance of DEFENSE, not the shitty ass 'efense-No-D' that they've played all season long. Lakers have at least shown they can pick up their defensive intensity when needed. Nuggets? Not so much.

One person nobody mentions is Lamar Odom. He does so much for this team. Averages well over 10 rebounds per game. He has a long reach, and hes good for 10-14 points a game. He works like a big man, but is smooth like a small forward.... He will be the factor in all of these games.

I must say it's really hard to say. Being a Lakers fan and seeing them play this year I have really high hopes. But the West is just SO strong this year. It will be tough either way.

Would be REALLY cool to have a Lakers - Celtics final again :P

Kobe simply can't play when there's a guy in his face all game long staying with him.

Anybody see the Lakers winning anything without Kobe putting up 30+ a night? Things get taken up a few notches come playoff time and the lakers just don't have enough toughness. The only thing that can save the Lakers is the refs going soft because of kobe (and all laker fans) being a whiny bitch.

Kobe can't play with someone in his face? Right. I bet the guys that guard him every night would disagree with you.

Kobe doesn't have to put in 30+ a night with Gasol and Odom playing as well as they are. And Fish has had a huge role this year. Vujacic and Radmanovich have been shooting well and the Lakers have been playing D well when they need to.

You being Serious?

Kobe has been passing the ball, and his team with him on the bench play very well. Obviously you are a big Laker Hater.. I wonder what you will be saying when they are in the finals...

Also, go check your stats on how many points Kobe scores against the spurs.... You'll be amazed... It's not that high, but it's not low either. It's around 24 a game.

Kobe didn't have to put up 30+ games lately and they won! You should check the stats man.

Yeah the Nuggets don't play good perimeter defense but I think you'll see a lot of zone. There's no doubt it will be tough for Denver but I'm not sold on the Lakers. The best case scenario for you guys is the Spurs in the conference finals. Worst case is the Jazz or Suns. Kobe will be the x factor, if he plays a good team game then LA has a shot. But if for any reason he tries to go off I think they're done.

Worse case scenario the Suns?!?!?! Did you watch the Lakers vs Suns at all this year? Lakers won that series 3-1 (including sNaq playing in the last game for the Suns) LOL. Lakers will EAT the Suns.

Now the Utah Jizz, I do agree they can give the Lakers fit issues, but we're talking about a Jizz team with a bad road record, compare that with the Lakers good road record. Remember, to win in the playoffs, you must win games on the road.

Kobe is a great scorer but far from a leader. Atleast Shaq can win on his own despite being old as dirt. Whats Kobe's excuse?

When Shaq first came to the Suns they made the mistake of trying to make him the focal point of the offense. Now they're running through Amari and leaving Shaq on the weak side to clean up. The Suns are still adjusting but it doesn't matter because you guys don't have an answer for the them in a 7 game series.

You obviously haven't watched many Lakers games this year. Commenting off of the 2 minute highlights you see on ESPN probably isn't a good idea. They have been playing and winning games all year without him having to put up big numbers. He has got good numbers but in the flow of the game, not forcing it like he had to in the past couple years.

I will give the Hornets some love. They are probably every bit as good as the Lakers (without Bynum) and Chris Paul has played absolutely amazing. But the playoffs are a whole different story for a young team and not sure how they will respond. Teams usually have to get in the playoffs and lose a couple years before they can take it to the next level. Not saying they can't because they have sustained it all season which I didn't think they would be able to do. The let down they had at the end and the fact that they are a young team is probably why they aren't getting much love.

That said I have Lakers vs Hornets for west Finals. Celtics vs Lakers for the Finals.

When did Shaq win one on his own? I know you're not talking about that title in Miami when Shaq himself admitted to being Robin to D-Wade's Batman.

D-Wade led that team.

And there you have it. Nuggets have a good offense, but once you get to the playoffs, you need to OUTSCORE your opponent, something that having a half-decent DEFENSE at least affords you, and something that the Nuggets know nothing of.

LAKERS 128, Nuggets 114
