SEO question. Which domain would hold more SEO value?

Ok, so here's the scenario. You have two domains, relatively similiar.

domainone.com - has been registered continuously for a 2-3+ years, yet has never been indexed, never seen a page put up, or a link pointed towards it, nothing. it's just been sitting regged for two years solid or more.

onedomain.com - has been registered for say a year or less, but has had a landing page on it and been indexed already for at least a few months now. no real seo work has been done, nothing spectacular, it's just a page that happens to have managed it's way into the index.

Which domain holds more value?

I guess you can sum it up by asking, does a domain have to be indexed to make continuous registration a point of value? Or does the continuous registration alone qualify it as a more valuable asset than more recently registered domains already in the index?

In my experience the aged domain needs to be spidered, and have been spidered or its not any better then the newly regged.

It would depend on the domain itself ultimately. There's a difference between porn.com and p-o-r-n.com .

But one-word dot-coms notwithstanding, a registered domain has less value if it's not indexed; it might as well be a new domain from Google's point of view.

A domain that's indexed has more value than something that's been registered and sitting there doing nothing for five years - from an SEO standpoint.

In this case I think it would be a question of perceived value - if you're asking from a buyer/seller's point of view.

I'm asking from a point of view of having a shitpile of domains sitting registered but not doing anything. If it's in my best interest to get them indexed asap even if i don't intend on using them for who knows how long. I will start slapping simple landing pages up on them and toss them links in their direction from my feeders in hopes that they get noticed...

Yes you definately want to get some "one page wonders" on them, get them indexed and even if you don't do nothng else, atleast the clock is ticking away on them.

Then absolutely get those suckers indexed!

You don't even need anything much past the body tag - get some text relevant to the domain up and paste a link or two to (again) relevant material and the URL will not only be indexed but become a "link" in a chain - even better if you can A-B-C cross link 'em.

yep, you should get them indexed... usually older is better, but having previously indexed content plus backlinks is always a bonus...

btw, you don't need to do landing pages if you don't want to... you can just park em and throw a little link juice at em... I have parked domains with pagerank, some of which even rank for certain keywords, yet they have never been anything other than parked... no previous content...

content is overrated...

thats about all my plan is. i'm gonna slap a banner up, a coupl lines of text, and link each one of them to 2 or 3 of the others in a big circle. then toss some inbounds from my feeder blogs and let them settle in. i'm not looking to seo shit with them, just get them indexed for the moment.

call me a minimalist... but my point was you don't really need to do that much... even something as simple as a sedo parked page will suffice... the important thing is the link juice...

i'm just dumping pages liek this on all my domains right now. http://ravenrileyzone.com/
took me all of a couple minutes to do. most of my domains are in similiar niches or purchased to promote specific programs, so i can knock a whole hell of a lot of them off fast. i'm assuming this is more than enough. i'm dropping a few links on each page to other landing pages i'm putting up and hopefully the spider will find his way through most of them with a link or two sent into each domain from my feeders.

In my experience the correct answer is neither.

The better indexed domain has a better chance at ranking higher in the serps.

The longer regged domain has a lower chance of being for whatever reason banned.

So, one's a spear, the other's an armor. Now, don't ask me if an armor or a spear are better gear.
