"Typical" rate for CPM? Advertisers in here please.

I'm opening up one of my sites to advertising. It gets 2 million page views per month, and is hovering around the 20K most visited US sites. Not brilliant I know, but a shitload of exposure nonetheless.

Porn and dating convert on it at present.

What would you expect to pay per thousand impressions?

I approached a few competitors who are asking $60 per thousand, which is just nuts.

Porn + impressions don't go well together. In this business we like to see performance which means we wanna see clicks turning into cash

Contact any similar site with advertising and ask how much their rates are. Size of ad and placement on page, and WHICH page it's placed on will all be factors in determing your CPM rate (cost per thousand)

CPM is usually based on Tier Countries - USA & Canada traffic will cost more, but those are the countries that actually convert.
At AVNAds - we can adjust your CPM or your CPC to achieve your CPA and bring your ROI.
Feel free to hit me up and we can go over it in more details.

It is usually easiest to monetize your adult traffic with sponsors and your non-adult traffic with advertisers. A lot of this is because adult sponsors have worthwhile payouts and so-called mainstream sponsors (a) benefit more from branding and (b) have wretched payouts.

Thanks for the replies, it's quite an eye opener this. I was going to test the waters with $10 / thousand, but that seems over what a couple of you think.

I'll see what my competitors come back with and take it from there.

1 dollar per thousand views would make me un-fucking-believable rich.

Stop coming up with bullshit numbers if you clearly have no idea. If I made 1 dollar per 1000 views I would be making SHITLOADS of money per minute. Actually piles of shitloads of money.

What the hell are you talking about?

You would only be making $2000 per month.

If you ask me, Zango is the way to go. It pays pretty damn good. So what if your users end up with crapware that can't ever be removed...

Actually, I think that if you force your users to install Zango, at something like $1 per install, then figure out how much you would make.

Check my sig for a new CPM model... that isn't based on CPM but timeframes... it's kinda new but with CTR as low as $0.006 per click, your getting a hell of a good value Check out JuicyAds and sign up your free account and see what I mean...

I'm not sure I could sign up with anything that had "Juicy" in the header

Trouble with going the AVN route is they want a cut, and when I last used them, they earnt me $3 per day from the site, which now earns several grand a month from not doing much.

The other issue with AVN / Adbrite, is they don't allow only banners to be displayed. I don't want text ads at the top of my text heavy site. And the default 0.05 CPM is laughable.

Seems like too much hassle, I think I'll continue to run sponsor ads and let the rebills add up.

Sounds like a plan to me, that's what I would do.

Now let's get down to business.

I have some auto rotating hosted banners on some very unique and underexposed sites that use CCBill.

How about you sign up to www.bvbucks.com and get some of that traffic flowing my way?

I really don't like ccbill, sorry BV, just don't trust the whole setup, and other than Lady Sonia, none of the programs with them have ever converted well for me.

You are very miss informed if you don't trust CCBill

That's a good one

If you don't mind me asking, what specifically do you have a problem with?
Maybe I can enlighten you (because you are misinformed)

You would trust an individual paysite owner that cuts their own checks and keeps their own stats over a 3rd party's? (that has been in business since almost the beginning) with a dam near flawless record? That's one of the major reasons to trust CCBill.

I assume you trust NATS? and if so why?

Most NATS programs process with CCBill anyways (FYI)

I have been with CCBill and Epoch like 9 years now, both are as trustworthy as they come.

I'd be happy to change your mind if you have the time, even if you don't promote any of my CCBill programs. There are a ton of excellent CCBill programs out there you are missing the boat on.

In fact, some webmasters that's all they push are CCBill sites.

They will probably frown on me for making this known,

But the best site to promote are high quality revshare sites with ccbill.

These are the main reasons.

trusted 3rd party stats and PAYOUTS

You can merge every sponsor onto one check and get one wire each week! LIKE CLOCKWORK! (99.999999% of the time)

Also there are many very "niche" and UNDEREXPOSED CCBill sponsors. This means they are not plastered everywhere and your more likely to make more sales and get listed more places, etc etc etc....

anyways enough of my rambling.

cheers,
BV

Oh wow.... that's the funniest thing I've heard all day.. CCBILL is rock solid. 80% of my income comes directly from the over 200 programs I have merged in them.. you might want to take another look.
