Most Dangerous Job In The World - Designer !!! - GoFuckYourself.com

Well you would think the most dangerous jobs in the world would be things like working on deep sea oil rigs, or some sort of minning deep under ground... but no it appears it's "Designers"

The amount of designers I have spoke to, done business with, and then they have been plagued with natural disasters and behrevements in the family, seriously designers are the unluckiest people in the worl... hit with flood, plague, framine and death... damn I would seriously re consider my proffession if I were you !

So what as brought this rant on ? I am needing some new work done on some sites, potentially 30 new sites done for a client of ours... you would think that the potential of 30 sites would motivate people...

So because of my previous experiences a couple of companies I have spoke to I have made it very clear I have no intention of paying up front... when ever I paid for things up front I just had designers dragging their heels... so as motivation I have been tellign people I will pay as each site is completed... they do one site in a week then I will pay for one site, two sites in a week then i will pay for two sites... so the quicker the sites are finished the quicker they get paid, seems a good way to make people try and adear to a timeframe, no ?

I keep getting told that designers have "current expenses" they have to pay so thats why they need down payments... wtf ! So when you go and buy a car you have to pay half before the car is even built ? Just one analogy... we all have "current expenses"

Anyways that my rant over... if any designers out there feel they can create designers for both solo sites and multi model sites to a level similar to that of our existign sites www.chloelove.com and www.wegetnaughty.com are willing to negotiate a good price for volume work, and are willing to work on a basis of beign paid as the work is completed site by site drop me an email [email protected]

Probably because many people looking for design want it done cheap resulting in no motivation, no software upgrades, no Hardware upgrades, and a lower income bracket than most other sorts of webmasters.

TO boot most guys nopt willing to pay tend to also be the pickiest mother fuckers in the world that want top notch services for a fucking penny.

How do I know this? Because it is how I started.

As designer I have learned pretty well who to say fuck off to or find someone else I am not interested. Reality is I deferr almost 80% of my business as the wanna be client does not qualify.

One would be amazed at the number of broke fucks in this busienss that play out like they got it all yet not willing to pay a designer properly for the efforts.

I seen some great designers better than me get fucken blown away on this board just because of one fuck off client bitching about everything.

Pretty fucked up situation. I got an idea, why dont guys that can actually afford design get good designers and the broke fucks work with idiot designers. Can we just keep it simple?

You offering some sort of organization to protect designers from broke poser fucks?

Dude it cuts both ways... my sites that I had done so far are top notch in my eyes... www.chloelove.com and www.wegetnaughty.com and both those sites cost me $250 a pop...

The guy who did them who was in the Philipennes told me that the designers in his country earn around $400 a month... so he loved working for me... damn am I exploiting him, it's not exactly a Indian Sweat Shop like Nike use in India...

And with my experience of designers dragging their heels with the lamest of excuses it does cut both ways... delays in getting a design finished is unexceptable... especially when on occassion its been over a month...

In a lot of industries there are time penalties for failing to do the job on time... lets analyse that last sentence, the bit that says "failing to do the job on time" you think thats exceptable, of couse you do your a designer... lol you guys should start a union

So my points are that bad ah Alien, the fact I object to being continueously let down, continuosly having a job take three times longer than quoted, and to boot designers still want to be paid up front...

Dont be pissed at me as a client, be pissed at your fellow designers who continuosly piss people off, they have created the problem... they quote a job, and trust me there are a tonn out there that do the sites at $250-$350 a pop... say yeah I can do it in a week and a month later they are popping up on ICQ explaining how their village got blown down !

Basically they take on a tonn of work from different people take the deposits then just fuck them around... they had 50% of the pay so they are in no big hurry to complete... it's fucking wrong Alien which ever way you cut it...

So carry on shouting... saying how bad people are for not offering $1000 a site and how they would all get a better job done... I for one dont believe it !

Go with someone who is trusted.

Pay a fair price.

Keep up on your end of the deal.

3 tips from me... The absolute worst thing that fucks me up is when a client disappears for weeks. Ive sent a many a mock up, to not hear back from them for weeks and then they expect it done asap.

That fucks my schedule up so much... I try to fit it in, and that just causes me to work even longer hours, thus causing fatigue and burnout.

And burnout is the worst thing to try to work through.
