Who is your favorite artist? Show us their work.

One of my favorite artists, Beryl Cook, died today. I like her work not necessarily because of the quality of the painting but for the fun and whimsy of it. She is best known for doing light hearted paintings of "big girls" having fun about town. She sort of took the very British tradition of sea side postcard art and took it on a bit.

An example, though not her best:

Who is your favorite artist and show us an example if you have one.

Among the favourites Egon Schiele

Toulouse Lautrec

I guess something from their natural decadence and eroticism works well with me..

Then Alfons Mucha:

And most of the impressionists.

George Frane looks very interestingly btw. definitely seen his works but wasn't aware of that name..

Bua is good, I have the DJ signed but I think he is a little over exposed these days. I really like Ralph Stedman (long time artist for HST) who really puts his world view into the art he produces.

Kozyndan have some cool stuff too like this:

I have very odd taste - folkart. Thankfully it fits in with a log cabin in the mountains ;)

I have several pieces by Howard Finster

http://www.outsiderfolkart.com/outsi...d-finster.html

And many more by people who aren't really anyone.....you know when you're at the local arts festival and you see stuff that looks like a 12 year old painted it and you think "Who the hell would buy that crap?"? I'm the one writing the check for it ;)

Since I live on a lake I have a lot of fish paintings on wood - painted like a 12 year old painted them, lol.

Great talent ... but I don't understand the point of realistic hand painted 'cartoon' work ... it's kinda pointless to me. Realistic toons don't make any sense... why not use a photo

That's why I just draw very clearly cartoon style work.

But still ... nice tits!

This is my fave artist, one of the still lifes on that site is mine. The attention to detail is absolutely incredible, and I still admire it every day.

http://www.icongallery.us/Jerzy_Mueller.html

But I also enjoy Robert Lenkiewicz (RIP), Ben Maile, Iain Faulkener, Raymond Campbell and many many more.

Anyone ever seen the paintings from David Lynch? I think it's pretty intense..

David is originally a painter / artist and the same way as with Pedro Almodovar you can feel that in his movies.

I was working as a bouncer for a stripping agency and seen one of his posters on the wall at the place where a party was. That was my first time. AMAZING stuff!
