Which windows vista version is the best ?

Which windows vista version should I buy and which one is the best ?

1) windows vista home basic
2) windows vista business
3) windows vista home premium
4) windows vista ultimate

I know absolutely nothing about the vista version, but it's about time to check it out.

I'd rather go back to WinXP or Win2000 over Vista.

1) windows vista home basic
2) windows vista business
3) windows vista home premium

I use all three but still prefer XP Pro.

I have Ultimate64.

Don't buy the full version. I just bought upgrade version(way cheaper) then upgraded the upgrade version. Works like a charm.

here's an article on how to do it. Microsoft knows about the exploit, but they don't do anything about it. I think they actually like it, because it may be getting them more sales. I know I bought it when I found out about the exploit.

I have purchased an Ultimate Edition for two PC's ... and a Home Premium for my laptop. I have encountered no differences between the two ... well ... other than the fact that Ultimate has a few useless extras and comes with a 32Bit install DVD and a 64bit install DVD in the same box. But other than that ... I don't think anyone in a small business will ever get any use out of anything Ultimate offers over Home Premium.

I'm lucky because I paid £17.50 per box for my Ultimate Editions. Fully legal of course ... I just know the right people! yay!

I did this and had issues with getting it activated. Ended up calling ms and they did some magic after about 8 phone calls getting bumped to the wrong person, or just disconnected, and am all set.

Must have been the way you preformed the operation. If done exactly the way its described in the article I posted, it works perfectly and activates. Worked great for me.

Though it has been said already...

Ultimate is the best by far.

Here's a comparison chart.

Processor power, FSB speed, and graphics card also play an important role in the equation of running Vista efficiently.

You can max out the amount of ram your system can take, but the system will still crawl if the system bus is dragging, processing power is limited and the graphics card isn't very powerful. Each one of those components plays a role in the the "Vista Experience".

I think most of the people having slowness issues have crap video cards. Vista WILL drag with a cheap low power vid card for sure.

Bullshit. It's entirely slow. Dual Quad-Core w/ 4GB, high cache SATA/300 drives, Vista Premium, and a nice NVidia 8800GT. Still took the fucking thing 5 minutes to load.

This is getting monotonous...

What accessories/peripherals did you have plugged in? What other devices did you have installed in the system?

If you're having problems with Vista during its startup, the machine is having a hardware or driver incompatibility issue. Follow the HCL and you will have no issues.

If you hate Vista because you lack the basic ability to understand how the OS was coded, then continue to use XP or even go to Linux, but stop whining about it.

External firewire drives do have issues, and cause a lot longer load times. Possibly usb drives too, at least before sp1 it did. Seems fine now after sp1 though.
