I suspect that with the power of mass consumer demand and numbers, that if you could special order or find one, it would actually cost you more than if you headed down to the discount electronic store in your town and bought a vista laptop off the shelf on sale and just reformatted the thing

very few places ... would be a pain for drivers etc for avg consumer ...

Local vendors is pretty much it, but honestly, its not worth the pain. Go with a reputable brand name desktop/laptop and spend the extra $50 or so to get a good reliable service. if you really hate windows that much, just format it upon delivery.

local computer shop, they'll even load up whatever OS you want, just give them the CD.
