Canadians - What is your favorite bank?

I'm getting a little tired of RBC... now with 3 accounts and a 4th one on the way for all my different companies, I need a bank I can just send emails to and get shit done, fax in wire requests and all that... I want a solution where I can do most of the stuff without going there and if need be, that it goes pretty fast.

Who do you use and who do you recommend?

I am with Royal Bank Right now. Positives : they don't freeze any amounts, even US is available the second I deposit it. moneris was easy to setup... online is good... but lack of services and cumbersome steps when needing to update accounts and the like.

I use RBC as well and my account manager does everything for me via email. If I need increased credit, investments, etc, all by email. I haven't spoken to her in years, everything is done by email with her. Get in touch with your manager and see why they can't do the services you need by email?

I've been with CIBC for years and recently set up some accounts at RBC for use with Moneris. I found RBC has quite a few better systems in place. So far they seem easier for some things.

I use Scotia Bank as l find them very friendly and more than willing to help with any situation

example: I spoke to the manager and he agreed to instanly cash any usa $ checks up to $3000 per check, that was cool as my account was only 2 weeks old

TD Canada Trust is my personal account no reason other than they seem ok

I love TD myself. CIBC is a piece of fucking shit, Scotia is good if you like to travel (branches all over). HSBC is the same in that regard.

But TD is open late, never charges me fees, local branches are super friendly in every city I have been in. Wish I had them in the US.

You may want to keep an eye on them. They have been giving some hassles to European WMs.

Financial services group ING has cancelled the accounts of a number of corporate clients who run pornography websites, the Telegraaf reports on Thursday.

The paper says the bank is worried about the damage to its reputation.

http://www.dutchnews.nl/news/archive...irm_bank_a.php

I use Nova Scotia, but, they can be a bit of a pain trying to do company banking at other branches.

I've had a TD account since 1974 that my parents started for me when I was born. I have never had a problem with them or their service. I've had piddly little accounts with Royal and CIBC, but quickly closed them down because of the stupid service fees. TD has never charged me a dime in service fees on my accounts.

I don't have an account there, but I hear VanCity (if you're in vancity) is the best bank (credit union) in BC, according to one of those "best of the city" polls in the paper.

I have accounts with RBC, TD, CIBC and Wachovia.

I do my business through CIBC Private Banking, but you need quite a large minimum amount to get in there. I fax everything I need done.

RBC are a bunch of fucking idiots, they never, ever help me when I need something. Ever. I'm getting out of there as fast as I can and moving all my personal stuff to TD, who help me with anything I need, and most importantly are open late.

I asked, and was told we can't get a personal rep... then she saw my different account and got confused, so she said I might be better off with the special rep for larger accounts or something heh, haven't had a chance to do it yet but looking around still.

sorry for the delays, we had to temporarily move the office to my house for a couple days, we had the floors sanded and varnished in the office above ours and the fumes would give us headaches, so I decided to get the guys to work from home for a couple days heh

Bank of Montreal... Years back I was with BMO but they pissed me off and so I switched to CIBC.. I hated the non-personal service of CIBC (I was going to try RBC but they were as bad as CIBC) so switched back to BMO and am happy I did.. They break some of their own rules for me... I also use Scotia-Bank and they've been decent as well. So for everyday banking I continue to use BMO. But for simple "storage" of money, I use all banks available.

Odd, I never had a problem getting a manager assigned to my account from day 1, so it shouldn't be any different.
