Using your digital camera as a "telescope", picture I took of the big dipper..
20 seconds exposure time will bring you tons of more stars than visible to the naked eye.. pretty cool

Try not only a longer exposure but take repeated pictures each with a long exposure. Then overlay them all. You will be pleased.

Oh almost forgot you can also get telescopes you can hook your camera up to for even a better effect.
