Hit on the nail ... aside that setting up one IP per class C is more work... and that in no way would we do that for $1.00 per Ip.... not even $2.00 ...

Most hosting companies do not want to deal with your request. Especially the 1 IP per C. That we will do all day long on virtual servers, but keeping track of your request on a dedicated plan would be a nightmare.

If I have a virtual account aren't all of my domains on one server then as well? So the difference is I'm either the only one on the server or I'm not....how does that change the assignment of IP's?

That's a ridiculous analogy.

First of all, if you were willing to pay enough for them to do that, I'm sure they would accomodate you.

Second, there's no benefit to you getting change that way, there is a benefit to customers having IP's allocated a certain way.

You're trying to support your own viewpoint, but you're doing so in exactly the form I was attempting to illustrate.

It does nothing for the bank, or the provider, to pander to someone who wants something super-custom right out of the gate, unless you're talking enough money to make it viable for not only your netengs, but the NOC to support it. A bank would be far more willing to inconvenience one of their employees to keep a customer happy than a hosting provider screwing up their internal topology - it's a hell of a lot easier to rewrap pennies.

In this case, as I stated, it's like asking for a penny from every till, or every roll. Unless this customer will offset the cost of their request, there's absolutely no point for the provider to even entertain the offer.

In this particular case, we're talking about a "bank" whose entire niche is giving people a penny from each roll. They advertise that they give away pennies from each roll, and in fact the only reason to choose this bank over any other bank is the fact that you need pennies from different rolls.

So all I'm asking is why can I have a penny from each roll if I share a safety deposit box with 10 other people, but I can't have a penny from each roll if I want my own safety deposit box?

Not all that ridiculous. Take it one step further. If you have dozens of people making the same request and when they are done with that penny it has to go back to the same roll.

Because a virtual server already has the IP's designated to it, whether someone is using them or not. A virtual server may be a virtual to you, but it is a dedicated to us, with the minimum number of IP's per C assigned to it.
