I always have a baseball bat near the bed. I never thought that much about it but one night about a year ago someone broke in and it was a big help in splitting open the motherfuckers head. Now I appreciate it more than I used to.

I had a boss was a captain special forces, Vietnam two tours a colorful fellow. He said for home protection a shotgun is best, point it in the general direction and pull the trigger. He said being nervous and trying to shoot a handgun you would be shocked how close you can be and miss.

I'm picking up a shotgun next week... just going through the criminal record check procedures right now, shouldn't take too much longer and I'll be good to go.

Will probably go with a pistol grip 12ga with a nice short 16-18" barrel.
