She delivered it well ... but it comes from Matthew Scully, Dubya speech writer.

What is good is that she brought in all her family, parents, etc ... By doing this, she is accepting open season on them.

Mitt Romney - sucked; talking points from 1980
Huckabee - good summary of McCain's life, character, and sacrifice
Giuliani - good swipes at Obama, drew constrast between McCain and Obama, interspersed talking points about good/evil, required love for Israel, winning wars on terror, lower taxes
Palin - perfect blend of informing who she is and what she's done with attacks on Obama. Her family and background probably resonated with a lot of voters.

I guess time will tell how this plays out and precisely the effect that the VPs have on the names on the top of the ticket. In this election it seems VP choices may play a larger role in who ultimately wins the Presidency than in any previous election.

I'm not saying that what they said was accurate. Clearly they painted their picture just as the Dems painted their own at the DNC.

Only Republicans would want a Fucking Bi POlar ex POW nut job for our country.

Face it. McCain is not sane. TO confirm this fact one has to merely look at Palin as his VP choice. A Fucking Milf from the boon docks? Oh god...

No one is truly sane after being tortured in Vietnam and Palin ceertainly proves it without a doubt.
Like we need a nut case having flash backs near the "Big Red Button" these days while some white trash milf breast feeds her retarded son in the white house.

TImes are far to important to let this motley freak show run the biz.

I think the Dems wanted to get a feel for Palin before knowing how to handle her. Now they know where she's coming from. The fact checking will begin and the responses forthcoming.

Jeffrey Toobin on CNN just said that Palin's claim of vetoing the infamous "bridge to nowhere" was something that she was actually in favor of, not opposed, like she claimed.

Many debatable points - the claim that Obama will raise taxes when he's actually going to lower them for ~100 million Americans, only increase for top 2%.

The claim that we're "winning" the war in Iraq or that it's "winning" is just within reach. I think anybody who thinks that place will ever be "won" is in for a surprise.

They ignored precisely how they will be different in policy from the Bush admin - only rhetoric that they'll shake things up, when McCain has been in favor with Bush 95% of the time. They ignored social positions/values like abortion, creationism, etc. Romney attempted to make the point that government and Supreme Court right now is largely Liberal and failed at it, because it's obviously not the case.

To be clear (in case I didn't express it clearly above), Toobin said that Palin either did not veto this infamous bridge and/or that she was in favor of having that bridge to nowhere.

There are also claims of her as Governor or Mayor leaving communities in debt as well, so smaller government and fighting for the people may only be talking points that don't line up with actual deeds.

I think that if McCain doesn't talk about issues tomorrow - as in his vision and his implementation of that vision via policy on the economy and war (and if it's not different from Bush's explaining why the results will be different from the results under Bush), the RNC will be a wash. It will just seem like more unnecessary partisan divisiveness which leads to more gridlock. The DNC seemed positive throughout, the RNC thus far quite negative with a lot of questionable and unfounded charges. I mean, knocking Obama for actually being directly involved with "the people" at the ground level as a Campaign Organizer in Chicago helping people who lost their jobs get on their feet; helping people get better housing... isn't that the kind of values the Repubs claim to respect?

Anyone that thinks dumb and dumber are going to win please hit me up for a wager. She excited nobody but the neocon base that was already firmly in their camp.

What a horrible choice for VP. McCain / Palin will be the laughing stock of the political world for decades, right there with Bush.

Republicans have lost.

If that is the ammunition (bee bees) they have to go against Obama then they are fucked when it comes time for the debates. I was ready for some heat, something powerful that might actually set fire to the Republican Party.

I was rather shocked to see the major lack of people in the crowd. The roar of the crowd sounded like a high school football game, at best. Then the average age was what, 60ish?

I guess I expected more, much much more from everyone on stage, the Republicans, hell just the people.

It's over..

whaaaa? what did you expect -was this the first Republican convention you've seen? Those people in the crowd are who wins elections for the Republicans, they turn out and vote, that's who makes the 'red states' turn red instead of blue.

That was smaller than previous times, much like the Dem's had a larger crowd than normal. Maybe that doesn't matter at all, but the difference this time is just astounding.

Red states will be going hard blue this time. FL has, they just got robbed of it. Point is, It's very possible for deep red states to go blue.
