Or it could be a bunch of panic from hippies.

I believe in free market. Where one company gets too greedy, another will under cut them.

In fact, I will probably do this plan in any event.

ISP's blocking out sites just makes my plan easier.

I agree in a free market to until cable companies get government funds to be able to be monopolies.

How many cable companies do you have to choose from?

Relax, it will not happen on ISP level.

But be very worried about the in-browser-phishing checks IE is performing, it's redirecting a lot of "bad site" porn traffic and DNS requests (1% of IE typed-in urls) to Microsoft's own Live.com - money doesn't stink, traffic neither.

I heard a rumor on this a little while ago, but not as abstract as what these people say. Basically, ISPs will offer "basic" internet packages for a lower price each month to people so they can check email and go to the comcast (or ISP) home page. Its sort of like when you go to circuit city, they only allow you to browse their webpage.

my ... all these ISPs like comcast and verizon are trying to do is snag up the rest of the people on dial up for a cheap price per month and introduce people to "the internet" at a low cost where they will like it, and pay $50 more a month to browse myspace and youtube
