It's not that horrible. What you're up against can't possibly be any worse than what I went through... I had one in my left ear canal. Very minor surgery, but shoot, ever had an ear infection and recall that pain? This was pretty bad but I can actually say it was just a relief when it was removed because when it built up the pressure was incredibly painful.

You'll be fine.. I don't know how large your cyst is but I wouldn't worry too much. You'll be numbed up during the procedure, chances are the local anesthetic shots are more painful than any other part.

It really is not that bad. My brother had one removed from his back. He said they went in pretty deep to cut it all out, but he did not really feel much. It is a pretty simple procedure.

Do you think its overkill to go to a surgeon for a cyst? They said they can do it in the office but I have #'s of surgeons available in case I want to go that route... Do you think I need conscious sedation for this or no? The doctor says my cyst is in an area that doesn't have a lot of nerves so it shouldn't be too bad.... Do you think its bearable with just local shots?

Do you think local is enough or if I need conscious sedation?

They said it will take a "couple" of weeks before they can take it out, after infection dies down

I think you need to calm down. It is a cyst. Try having a cyst on the inside of you and not knowing you had it until it burst. You feel horrible pain and they just leave the liquid in you. You feel sick for about three weeks and then your body finally absorbs all the liquid. No you do not need a surgeon to remove this cyst. You need to pop a Xanax and calm down. I think you will be fine with a local shot.

I can imagine that it would be terrible. My cyst is under my skin though, not really deep down... probably a few millimeters deep, I can feel the cyst when I press down on my skin and it's under the skin, not on it... Of course it's nothing as bad as a cyst way deep inside your body like inside your stomach or something like that. That would be terrible. Especially the part of not even knowing it's there and one day having it exploding. I would think that such a cyst would have symptoms like cramping or some type of pain at least...

Never had an ear infection. I know what you are talking about the pressure building up. The pressure in mine was building up so bad that it popped when I accidentally bumped in the door. It was very painful.

I wish it would have had symptoms. I had none at all until it burst. Then it hurt like hell. I had to go to the ER and they did an ultrasound and found the liquid. They said the liquid knocks your central nervous system off track but that only lasts a few weeks until your body absorbs the liquid. I asked for them to suck the liquid out but they would not. Assholes. LOL
