So what happened to OSAMA bin LADEN ?

I rarely start political threads, so this one will be an exception.
Nearly 7 years after 9/11, the US has started two big wars (Afghanistan and Iraq) and is planning even a third one (Iran).

The 9/11 attacks have totally changed the world we are living in (also for non-Americans, i.e. in air travel, banking, giving up certain civil liberties etc).

The war in Iraq alone has costed the US economy over $3 Trillion (> $3,000,000,000,000) as a Nobel_prize winning economist calculates.

Yet the man behind the 9/11 attacks is still riding a camel somehwere in the desert?
Are you kidding me?

Why is it totally not an issue anymore in the US election?
Why has the public forgotten about it?

I totally don't get it

The US government was appointed by God, and his actions are based on divine commandments. Most Americans believe this is true.

First, I'd say he's hiding in northern Pakistan, not in the desert

Second, I'd say that a death Osama could be more dangerous than a living one

Third, I'd say it doesn't make much of a difference if he's alive or not.

http://www.whatreallyhappened.com/osama_dead.html

Pakistan's president says he thinks Osama bin Laden is most likely dead because the suspected terrorist has been unable to get treatment for his kidney disease.

[A Bush administration official] said U.S. intelligence is that bin Laden needs dialysis every three days and "it is fairly obvious that that could be an issue when you are running from place to place, and facing the idea of needing to generate electricity in a mountain hideout." [CNN]

Renal dialysis -- talking about hemodialysis -- is something that really is reserved for patients in end-stage renal failure. That means their kidneys have just completely shut down. The most common cause of something like that would be something like diabetes and hypertension. Once that's happened, if you're separated from your dialysis machine -- and incidentally, dialysis machines require electricity, they're going to require clean water, they're going to require a sterile setting -- infection is a huge risk with that. If you don't have all those things and a functioning dialysis machine, it's unlikely that you'd survive beyond several days or a week at the most. [CNN]

Do you think the Bin Laden family links to the Bush family have anything to do with him not being found?

A Bush administration official said Iraq had weapons of mass destruction and were a threat to us all. So I don't put a lot of faith in anything that comes from "A Bush administration official".

Remeber that the way they caught Sadam was through disloyalty of someone who was supposed to be gaurding him. If Osama has a strictly loyal team behind him which is entirely possible, he could be hiding anywhere in the world and won't be found.

Just like any sort of criminal organistion, just like the mafia

It often boils down to someone spilling the beans and ratting on everyone.

I honestly believe he is dead.

I also believe the arabs thought it be better to pretend he is alive- rather than marter him and say hes dead- thats how idiotic they are.

A real video showing he is alive and well would really be a slap in the US face- and prove that we are retarded when it comes to catching him. Hes dead folks.

He's hanging out with the rest of his misunderstanders in Pakistan. Some of our GFY Islamic scholars should head over to help them realize the error of their ways.

Quote:
By Zeeshan Haider
ISLAMABAD (Reuters) - About 2,000 Islamist women gathered at the radical Red Mosque in the Pakistani capital on Wednesday and vowed to raise their children for holy war, days after a suicide bomber killed 18 people after a similar rally.

Chanting slogans of "jihad is our way", burqa-clad women, some with babies, listened to fiery speeches from the daughter of the mosque's jailed cleric on the eve of the anniversary of a commando raid on the complex in which more than 100 people died.

"Our mujahideen (fighters) laid down their lives for the enforcement of the Islamic system in Pakistan. We are left behind to carry forward their mission," the daughter of cleric Abdul Aziz told the tightly guarded rally in the mosque compound.

Several thousand men attended a similar rally on Sunday to mark the anniversary of the July 10 commando raid that ended a week-long siege that began when gunmen from the mosque clashed with police.
Shortly after the Sunday rally ended, a suicide bomber attacked police who had been guarding the gathering killing 18 people, all but three of them policemen.

The attack highlighted the danger posed by militants in nuclear-armed Pakistan, where a new coalition government has been preoccupied with what to do with the unpopular President Pervez Musharraf, a staunch U.S. ally who has been isolated since his allies were defeated in a February election.

The blast in the centre of the capital also compounded gloom on Pakistan's financial markets, where stocks have been sliding because of economic worries and the rupee has set new lows.

"AL JIHAD"

But there was no trouble on Wednesday as the cleric's daughter, who did not identify herself, told the crowd to steel their families for holy war.

"We should prepare our children and men for jihad," she said.

The crowd responded with shrill chants of "we are ready" and "al jihad".
Aziz was caught during the siege last year trying to slip through a cordon dressed in a woman's burqa. His brother, Abdul Rashid Ghazi, who was also a mosque cleric, was killed.

Ghazi's widow, identified as Umm-e-Hassam, said President Pervez Musharraf should be punished for ordering the crackdown: "This man is the enemy ... I want this man to be severely punished before I die," she told the rally.

The Red Mosque and an adjoining women's madrasa, or religious school, had for years been a bastion of militant support in Islamabad and the clerics and their followers had waged an increasingly defiant campaign to enforce Taliban rule.

They occupied a state library, kidnapped women they accused of prostitution and some policemen, and stormed music and video shops and beauty parlours, much to the dismay of the moderate majority in the capital.

They also accumulated weapons and battled security forces for days, rejecting calls to surrender, before Musharraf ordered the commandos in to end the standoff.

The assault unleashed a wave of suicide bomb attacks across the country in which hundreds of people were killed, including former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.

Aziz's wife, identified as Umm-e-Hassan, said they had nothing to do with the attacks.

"We are not terrorists. Islam does not teach terrorism ... America and its stooges are terrorists," she told reporters at the rally, referring to the Pakistani army.

"We are holding this rally to tell the world we are alive and in high spirits. Islam can never be wiped out. It grows more after martyrs shed their blood."

Militant violence eased after a government made up of Musharraf's opponents took power in March, promising to negotiate peace. But the lull seems to be over.

About 40 days before Bush leaves the white house, OSama will be grabbed. Or at least someone who looks like him. There will be a quickie trial in the country he is grabbed, he will put convicted, and put to death.

The US didn't "start" the wars.

The war with Iran started in 1979 when the US embassy was attacked by militants, including, some say, future Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. For decades, Iran has threatened our allies and sponsorred terrorism around the world. It is coming to a head now with Iran's recent aggressions.

The war with Iraq started in 1990 when Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait. For 11 years the brutal dictator defied the UN and thumbed his nose at the world. Hussein also murdered hundreds of thousands of his own people. After the failure of the UN, GWB had the balls to stand up to Hussein and conduct a police action to remove him by force. 27 million people were freed.

The war with Afghanistan started on 9/ 11/ 2001 when the Twin Towers were attacked by Bin Laden's organization, which was given shelter by the Taliban.

Yes, Bin Laden is still on the run. The war against him is vital because it is an ideological war of Islamo-Fascism against freedom. It is a worldwide battle.

Hussein gassed the kurds years before he invaded Kuwait. Why didnt go and kill Hussein during the Gulf War? Why did president Bush the first say "The united states is not in the business of assasinating leaders"? Why did Swarzkoff sign an agreement with Iraqi military? Where was the moral outrage about him killing his own people when it actually mattered? Why did this argument pop up only after no WMD's were found, and vice Dick's lie about there being a link to al qeada was proven to be pure shit? lol christ on a crutch man..

Hussein was "bad", but he deserved a second chance? The reason all of that happened is that we didnt give a fuck that he was killing his own people obviously. Other countries kill their people all the fucking time and we dont give a shit. How many MILLIONS have to die in Africa before we go bomb them and kill their leaders? Wheres the morality argument now? Nonexistent as always is where.

The US government CHOSE to send our troops into Iraq DESPITE the evidence that he had no WMD. They cherry picked the various reports from the region and highlighted only those things that would help "make the case" to go into Iraq.

On September 11th 2001 (remember that day?), Donald Rumsfeld suggested that this was the time to go into Iraq. Is the argument now going to be that suddenly, miraculously, like a gift from God almighty, that on that day, the US government suddenly decided at long last to find morality and go get saddam?

When Condi's report came in that those aluminum tubes were NOT SUITABLE for enriching uranium, she went on the air and repeated the famous lines that they were ONLY suitable for enriching uranium, and that we dont want the smoking gun to come in the form of a mushroom cloud. When she was caught in this on live tv YEARS later with the actual report stating they were *NOT SUITABLE* for enriching uranium, all she could do was stammer and state that she stands by her statement. She read the words "NOT SUITABLE" and said "ONLY SUITABLE". That my friends is called a lie.

When Wilsons report came back that there was NO URANIUM being sought from Niger, the UNited States Government in our white house began a concerted effort to discredit Wilson, going so far as to out his covert CIA operative WIFES name in the newspapers! THAT my friends is called TREASON.

Any idiot that believes anything coming out of this white house deserves to be called an idiot. And it's just as simple as that.

Oh and in case you dont believe Rummy wanted this on sept. 11th, here's a bit of an article that was published FOUR YEARS AGO.. so maybe it's time you caught up:

"With the intelligence all pointing toward bin Laden, Rumsfeld ordered the military to begin working on strike plans. And at 2:40 p.m., the notes quote Rumsfeld as saying he wanted "best info fast. Judge whether good enough hit S.H." ? meaning Saddam Hussein ? "at same time. Not only UBL" ? the initials used to identify Osama bin Laden.

"Go massive," the notes quote him as saying. "Sweep it all up. Things related and not." "

Going back to make a point can benefit either side depending on how far back you want to go...
The war with Iran could have started because of the Shah's 16 years of martial law and his support from the United States which then alienated a great percentage of the population...
The war with Iraq could have started because Sadam believed the United States would not interfere with his invasion to Kuwait as the US was a major supporter of Iraq during its 8 year war with Iran...
The war in Afghanistan could have started during its war with the Soviet Union, during which the (future) taliban rebels were supported with weapons from the CIA, although aid stopped once the Soviets finally pulled out....

Not saying I'm right, you're not, just saying that once you start going back, you can go as far as your points need you to.

The most ridiculous comment I've heard, and it's been said many times, is that the "war on terror" is working because there hasn't been an attack inside the U.S. since 9/11 ...

Okay, but on 9/10 you could've said that there hadn't been attack since '92.

Rumsfeld, Cheney et al wanted to invade Iraq before Bush was even elected; they even put together reports on it. Then you guys elected a President with abso-fucking-lutly no clue on foreign policy and people wonder why your country is in the shit it is.

Now you guys might elect a President who hasn't even served two terms as a senator and has even worse credentials then Bush when it comes foreign policy but you expect a different outcome. Who will be pulling his strings? That honeymoon will be over quick!

Yep. Rummy, Wolfy, Cheney and Bush the first submitted an iraq invasion proposal to president Reagan. He is reported to have laughed them out of his office.

And I'm not comfortable at all with this newbie we're about to elect. But.. he's better than the oldbie who clearly has every intention of pandering to everyone he once stood firmly against.

If Al Gore had been president this all that would of been talked about by the over 40 hrs a week of right wing pundits and at least 4 books on it. The left doesnt have that loud a voice. I cant for the fairness doctrine to come back.
