Anyone use a virus program that works on start up ..

I have a pc that will not let me even get to the Windows screen .. I want something that I can do in safe mode or maybe even from a rom ?? Has anyone done this, and what did you use ?? I have avg and lavasoft that I was running .. Thanks

I have a few tech tools that would do that. Best thing I can do is tell you to call a tech.

I generally avoid putting viruses (virii?)in my start up.

On a more serious note, I like to keep my data on a separate drive than my OS installation, that way if something goes wrong I can just reinstall the OS and all my data is still there.

AVG has a dos/boot virus scanner included that works before windows starts kicking in.

May not be a virus. Sometime removing addware can have this effect.
