If you were an Alpha Red customer check your Credit Card

Hi,

Some "whales" at Alpha Red had their credit cards hit for extraordinary amounts that were not due. I don't know how widespread the problem is or if others with small accounts were affected. Everyone should call their credit card to review "recent" charges to see where they stand.

I'm happy to report that the 30 seconds it took me to write that post did not interfere with MojoHost support.

Besides which, I think that if some people were hit for 5 and 6 digits on their credit cards that it's a nice thing to warn everyone.

If it's true then it's irrelevant whether he's a competitor or not. Fraud is fraud.

and let me set something else straight here-

I like James, I have *always* liked James. How and where things went wrong for him, I haven't the slightest as we've been out of touch for years until more recently. When you bond with someone once, it sticks with you. This isn't personal, nor trolling for business. Where other competitors were excited, I have been sincerely distraught. I go back 9 years to when I was a webmaster and he was my first host AS Networks. There were threads by lots of other people before I ever posted a thing. I've kept things factual, stayed above the belt and omitted lots of details. James, where ever you are despite everything I wish you luck. As for AR customers, they're clearly in a safe place with CWIE as a new owner/operator which was not the case when all of this broke last week.

Hi Brad, hope all has been well with you

Let me comment here that CWIE has not billed any customers. We have nothing to do with previous Credit Card charges and customers should feel free to contact their credit card company to charge back any false CC transactions.

Without haters you aren´t successful!

Those retarded AR customers should be happy that someone gives them a heads up, may it be from a competitor or not.

Hiya Mark, yes things are well and thanks for asking. Thanks for clarifying, I didn't think to because it seemed so obvious.... I'm sure without clarification some dingbat here on GFY would have assumed otherwise somewhere in the first 40 posts. LOL

That is horrible. I hope those who have been charged are reporting this to the authorities. Wish I could say it is surprising to hear the news though.

I don't see that he's asking for anything in this thread, just giving information away. If I had an erroneous 4 or 5 figure charge on my account, I'd want to know about it as soon as possible.

I just want to take a moment to say that I fully corroborate Brad's claim.

I have received direct reports from former AR customers, stating that there were massive charges fraudulently applied to their accounts.

I think Brad does a good job with his customers. I see no problem with him adding value to GFY letting people know, what this company is doing. I don't even host with Brad but he adds value to the board.

Cogent just cut Alpha Red off. I knew last week this was scheduled, was hopeful CWIE would work it out with an acquisition. Best of luck everyone-

Crazy shit. Will be interesting to see who controlled the billing to push those charges through. Guess James figured he may as well ad fraud to the mix and go big.

Apparently Cogent decided why wait until Friday to shut them down, I wasn't expecting this until tomorrow.

Exactly, those of us who knew this stuff was going down were just pushed aside as haters and as hosts looking to make a quick buck. Point blank AR is dead. It sucks to be the told you so guys

I would suggest all Alphared customers to keep a close eye on the situation and think about if they would want (and can afford) to take the risk of waiting what happens with the (still possible) option of seeing your server going offline.

I think the fact that Alphared doesn't bring any update about the situation and the future of its hosting customers is a bad thing and unnecessary as it will make the situation only worse.

As far as I can see servers are still online as we just initiated another two transfers but I don't think this will last long, I wouldn't be surprised if everything went down for the weekend.

Actually looks like Cogent did their best to be accomodating, AR was supposed to go dark yesterday.

I can verify that NO additional charges were made to our Cards, does not mean it has or hasn't to anyone else.
