Computer Vision Syndrome and Computer Glasses
very interesting article here
People who spend more than two hours on a computer each day will experience symptoms of CVS or Computer Vision Syndrome. The most common symptoms include headaches, focusing difficulties, burning eyes, tired eyes, general eyestrain, aching eyes, dry eyes, double vision, blurred vision, light sensitivity, and neck and shoulder pain http://www.mdsupport.org/library/cvs.html |

I have none of these symptoms and I've spent more than 2 hours a day in front of a crt for many years.
...hmmmm...but recently my groin exploded and shot orange puss all over the wall... ....I doubt its related though.

My eyes ability to adjust when I go from light to dark has really gone downhill after 20+ years of staring at a screen at night.
10 years ago I used to be able to walk my house at night with all the lights off and not run into anything. Now I might as well be in a cave underground. Can't see shit.

Complete garbage from my experience. I started using computers when I was 5 years old and typically spend 10+ hours a day in front of a computer. I still have better than 20/20 vision.

The poor night vision could be natural. Everybody loses night vision and is less able to deal with glare starting in their mid-thirties.
But I've had all those symptoms and it got way worse with LCD screens. I got a pair of computer specific glasses I only wear when working and it helps quite a bit. Your eye doctor can hook you up.

For some reason LCD screens seem to show up my floaters really badly, in fact I wasn't even aware of them until I purchased an LCD screen a few years ago.

sounds like some posters need to eat more carrots... poor night vision and glare sensitivity is a sign of vitamin A deficiency.

Glasses will just add another problem as your brain tries to adjust to the coloring... Not to mention I am sure they don't use tolerances required to perfectly refract the light across the entire lens...

i bought an LCD and my vision problems outlined in the OP decreased. it has been recently shown that UV or UB light helps prevent vision loss. so, make sure you spend some time outside each day. |
