Convert VOB (Mpeg-2) to AVI?
I am trying to rip a couple of my own DVDs and I am looking to get the best quality from the resulting files. If I use something like DVD Decrypter to rip the VOB files to my hard drive, what's good for converting them to AVI so I can do some simple editing and add titles? I don't want to go direct from VOB to WMV or whatever, I need to convert the VOBs (Mpeg-2) to something I can edit a little in Premiere like AVIs and only then will I encode them to WMV, Mpeg-1 etc. Anyone know a nifty tool I haven't used yet?

have you tried Auto GK? or Auto MKV depending on size vs quality. divx/xvid are great for the sizes but MKV if you want higher quality without worrying nearly as much about the filesize.

I looked at AutoGK, but that only appears to convert to DIVX or Xvid, and those are not editable formats. I want to convert from VOB to some relatively uncompressed form of AVI that I can edit in Premiere and only then will I make end user formats like WMV or mpeg-1 or DIVX from the video.
