Absolutely... it's how I decide if I want to buy it or not.
My wife even made me download a crappy cam job of Twilight after she saw it in the theatre, just so that she could tell me all about it.... and she'll be buying it on dvd too. Ugh! I think she's obsessed.

Demonoid ftw! I download from axxo all the time, and like StuartD said, I like to see if I wan't to buy the movie first.

If it's worth buying I do go and buy the DVD, something about having the actual DVD and case on a DVD stand that makes it more satisfying then a collection of burned DVD's sitting in a pile on a shelf.

What if you have 200 dvd's in your collection, are you allowed to download an illegal movie because you already made your contribution to the movie industry?

I just appreciate everyone's honesty,

darkman tried to brand me morally bankrupt for downloading a movie every now and then, so I was seeing how I match up to everyone else here.

As if simply because you would download a movie you would steal from your friends and neighbors.

So to those that don't download,

is it simply because your not sure how to?

Or is it a right and wrong standpoint, which I totally respect.. to each his own.

lol.. I have never once downloaded anything from a torrent site. I did not even know they existed until I joined GFY a year ago

but many moons ago when napster was all the rage I did download some MP3s but I have never downloaded a movie. I just dont see the point when you can go out and buy it on DVD for £9.99 ..each to ones own

Consider me selfish and ignorant,

but the last time I went to a movie theater (the dark knight), I swore to myself I would never go back.

Don't get me wrong, I love the theater experience when it isn't jam packed and people aren't talking throughout the entire fucking movie.

But I have had some bad experiences the last few times I went, so I prefer to watch movies at home on the 50 inch, able to smoke a cigarette or a bowl while doing so and not having to worry about the stranger sitting next to me.

I find it hard to wait until they come out on dvd, especially when the titles are so good.

So sometimes when there is a good copy out of something I will check it out.

I make my living by selling rights to content. Would make me a hypocrite if I was downloading from others without paying.

Never downloaded or used anything pirated, film, music, game, program and sacked two employees on the spot for doing it on the office servers.

Some of the reasons given here for pirating are laughable. In truth there is one reason and one reason only people pirate. They think they won't get caught.

Precisely... You also forgot the under 30's laughable belief that they are owed everything and shouldn't have to pay for anything.

There is not one excuse in this thread that justifies the illegal downloading of content, whether it be movies, mp3's or porn. The excuse of wanting to see if it is any good is a load of shit. Just because YOU didn't like it and DON'T end up buying it you STILL fucked someone out of their money. PERIOD!

It would be very interesting to see if any of the people think this behaviour is acceptable who also complain about THEIR content being stolen and used on tubes. Better yet, how many of them OWN tubes and are ALREADY robbing others in this industry.

Play it how you like, justify it all you want in whatever twisted moral code you live your life by. Stealing is stealing no matter what face you put on it or excuse you attach to it.

Same here, $17 a month and can watch all the movies I want. Of course there have been a few times they didn't have what I was looking for but that's life. Hell, I don't have a million dollars either but you won't find me robbing a bank to get it.

Uhhm... I download a movie to watch it.
In your mind, you picture me in a dark corner plotting my next download that I'll spring on society without getting caught.... but... well, you're weird.

I have no idea, but I do know several things unfolded from this thread though...

http://www.gfy.com/fucking-around-and-business-discussion/872889-torrent-site-books.html

Threads disappeared or got closed and posts got deleted and one person was banned. I think it has something to do with being a thief. But that is just me.
