Macbook Pro problems

Have had my 15" since January of this year. First repair visit was my fault for dropping a starbucks coffee on it. Learned from that and a $800 repair bill..

Second visit was due to a trackpad and keyboard freeze. Neither worked and had to ship it off for a week. No Cost.

Now a third visit tomorrow planned... Have large white blotches on the screen and the same trackpad and keyboard problem.

Love mac products, but the China build problem is getting really apparent. It's covered under warranty until jan 09 but c'mon... 2 visits in a year?

Would love a trade for a new MBP but doubt that...

That seems out of the ordinary. I've yet to have any problems with my old Powerbook or the new iMac. Hope you figure it out.

sounds like they installed a dodgy logic board after your coffee incident.
Visit the genius bar, or call apple support and give your story how you are not happy, especially due to a recurring fault and with the warranty about to expire....

Never heard of the blotches on the screen problem before... maybe they didnt completely clean all the coffee in the first repair?

I think the problem is you, not the computer.

Applecare is key for any new Mac user. Definitly spend the extra money and you will thank yourself down the line. I have a Mac Book for 2 years now and have had to bring it in once and they replaced all my internal parts at no charge plus a new keyboard.

brought the unit in today. they are replacing the logic board for the 2nd time and replacing the top lid which includes the lcd screen. Had like 10-15 white spots that the lcd light shines through. With late 07 units, it's a noted issue. said 3-5 days but will see. covered under warranty. maybe will get the $350 applecare since my warranty expires in january 09.

and the starbucks spill was an accident folks... at the phoenix airport and hit the cup on accident.. jeez... like no one else here has done that before...???

nice - new logic board and LCD. Bascially a new computer!

I wouldn't bother with Applecare for $350 now tbh. It'll extend the guarantee a further 2 years (can you even get it so late after purchase?) and you've replaced the two most expensive things on the computer.

Unless you get *another* dud logic board and lcd, you're not going to have much repairs in 2 years I would gamble. (I think the repairs are guaranteed 6 months anywhere, though don't quote me on that)

AppleCare is completely worth it. There's a reason you need insurance on it. I love my MacBookPro but I love my AppleCare even more

my 17" macbook pro is a piece of shit, the thing gets hot then freezes after 10minutes to an hour of use. Also the keyboard doesn't always work, it misses the shift key and some letters sometimes.

my macbook air is great though.
