well it's free but skim + your traffic going to a sub domain is a big trade off to having your own wp based site
just an observation - i've seen some thumblogs with some very high niche serps but they drop a month later or so

Almost nobody does... A few that managed to get their sites into google for terms like "MILF" or "MILF HUNTER" get paid... but that is 2% of the blogs making more than $100 a month.
