Evander Holyfield

he just lost on points to that big russian, very unlucky I thought he won by 4 rounds.

Russian mafia showing how big they are by paying the judges off.

I ignored this completely because I thought Holyfield was just hurting his brain. Was he any good or does the Russian just suck? Holyfield looked terrible against Lewis 5 years ago and strugged with whats-his-name. That guy that floats around the bottom of the top 10 heavyweights and occasionally gets mentioned.

Was this fight on HBO or ppv?

He's 46 years old. Why is he making another comeback? Did he blow all of his money too or does he just miss the attention?

Boxers forget why the retired after a while and only think about how much
they wanted to box to begin with.

Then everyone wants to prove that they are not old.

Holyfield has made hundreds of millions over the years but spends like a drunken sailor, not to mention having to support all those illegitimate kids. The upkeep on his 100+ room mansion in Georgia alone is insane.

That being said Holyfield 100% won this fight, 116-112 is what I scored it at (I almost never score fights but I was bored tonight). He danced around and threw weak shots at Valuev, but Valuev did even less than that. I will always love boxing, but every time I try to get excited about it again a fucking abortion of a decision like this happens. The sad thing is it happens with alarming frequency in MMA as well.

I'd love to get rid of the old judges scoring at ringside bullshit and go with the guys in the Compubox truck doing the scoring, or maybe some combination of the two. One day there is going to be a mega fight in MMA that ends on a bullshit scoring that is going to end up majorly stunting it's growth...

the rule in mma and boxing is that if you want to get fucked, let it go to the judges..

saw the writeup, holyfield needs to go away and hide. 46/47 yr old boxers only get their heads beaten in and get hurt. only fighting for the $$

Some big name needs to get seriously hurt or killed in the ring, and it'll be over for the 40+ fighters..

Bring back Tyson if you're into old fighters? Foreman still around? Jeez

I didn't watch the fight, but if you guys are saying Holyfield won, it's a pretty sad indictiment of the sport if a 46 year-old can hold his own throughout an entire fight against a current "top" fighter and arguably have won.

Remeber Hollyfield versus Foreman?

This might just show how great these boxers were in their prime that they are still
hard to beat.

I'd fight him for $600k.

Buddy obviously needs the cash though if he's doing it for that amount. His days of pulling 10-20M per fight are well behind him.

I read he'll make closer to a million plus when it's all said and done, but I can see why he would fight for that amount. In his mind Valuev was a winnable fight, and he was right as he should have won it. He wins the fight and he has the WBA heavyweight title, and then he is right back in position for some big money fights. Even with the loss they are already talking rematch, and then there is this little nugget...Riddick Bowe fought again a few weeks ago, and there is talk of a possible fourth fight between Bowe/Holyfield. As sad as it may be to see I have a feeling it would still draw some money...

Holyfield owes millions to the IRS, at that pay rate he needs to fight at least 10 more times to break even.
