Avira AntiVir Personal Edition (free version) OR Avast! Home Edition (free version)..
for Avira AntiVir Personal Edition (free version)
or Avast! Home Edition (free version): can you leave the anti virus to scan your computer all night or does it stop on every virus detection asking you what it wants you do ? I remember one of them being that annoying...can't remember which one it was..it might be both.. |

not needed
avira and avats are similarly good, last time I read though is that avast scans your hard drive around 2 times faster than avira (if it matters to anyone) edit: i dont remember if it asks you what to do with every infected file, but why would you be infected? after you install a good antivirus and firewall and don't download suspicious files, there are slim chances that you'll suddenly find a virus with your regular scan

I went with avats after years of using AVG, that now stalls for me, and will not work.
I haven't had any issues with avats thus far, though I do miss what I am used to.

sweeties, I'm not asking which anti virus is the best - I'm only asking which of the 2 (Avira OR Avast) don't have an option to run the whole scan without stopping each time it detects a threat ?

Avira Antivir does that, yes its annoying Not sure about Avast, I have been using Avira Antivir for a long time and like it but suddenly it started giving me strange virus alerts at html files on my disc even though they are all clean. This happens especially when I generate galleries in Chamaleon, it bitches the files are infected but when I check the code its OK, so I always have to turn it off. I dont know why, but it was not doing this before. shit ![]() |

Avast has an options to repeat your choice on all infected files - ie "delete all", etc...
Also Avira & AVG is more vulnerable to some viruses... |

can you have a choice like "don't do anything when detecting virus during scan, wait until I finish the scan" - and than after the scan is complete you decide whether to delete the file, ignore it etc. ?
