I am not defending any of IDF action. Killing civilians is definitely sucks. As well as bombing Israelis from civilian houses and storing weapons in the schools. Every normal person will be sad to watch it all.
You can't judge the sides by watching recent news, it's quite a long conflict.

During the last 60 years civilians were killed from both sides.
Sometimes IDF has to deal with 200 attempts a week, to prevent bombing buses, schools, restaurants and clubs in Israel. About 7 years ago I stayed in Tel Aviv hotel and right front of it a terrorist bombed himself in the crowd of young clubbers. They all were about 18 years old, about 20 were killed right away.

On this page you can see a history of only last 8 years with 70 "successful" terror attacks. Multiply it by 100 to get a rough number of attempts.

Wherever you come from, I doubt you would like to have it in your country and probably were supporting action against it.

What I said in the previous post is referring to Israel as a country, which is very beautiful, well built and civilized with a lot of nice, smart and peaceful people.
Once you visit, you always come back.
