Good time to get an MBA?

Are tough economic times the best times to reinvest in your personal education? Not necessarily to make yourself more 'marketable' in the job market or to get a promotion but just for the sake of education. Basically, take two years off getting a degree and get out of school once the worst of the recession has passed. Assuming you can get grants and scholarships to cover up to half of your MBA costs, would you go for it?

What do you guys think?

I think there's more millionaires made during a depression than during good times.

Yeah you really should. I heard that you should have MBA if you want to work in high-level especially the U.S government requires it these days.

One of those news shows (20/20, primetime, etc) did a story on such. Really seems that just about everyone agrees they are just about useless (read most college education) unless you are after something that REALLY requires it such as lawyer, doctor, etc.
They did really express and show how trade schools on the other hand are surefire winners and worth every dime.

I know I rather pick up skill sets than other forms of education.

Not even just for purely educational/self-gratification via education purposes?

I was thinking of doing the same, but they are kinda expensive, you are looking at probably at least 50k for 2 years tuition, you have to jump through hoops to get into a decent school AND you have to account for probably another 100-200k in "opportunity cost", time used up studying that you could have used for work instead....

so the whole thing = 250k if not more, which is a significant expense to be doing it just for "self gratification"...
