The UK Royal Air Force's Typhoon jet aircraft

The American F-16, you have a serious competitor in your line of site and it's the UK Royal Air Force's Typhoon jet aircraft also known as the Euro Fighter. Man what an unbelievable machine.
Puts the US F-16 to shame

Check out this video done by the BBC and see for yourself.
Head to head I can see this aircraft taking down F-16's like it was nothing.
Put this aircraft in Israeli pilot's hands and you don't want to be on other side
If someone needs it, the direct link to the video is http://www.bbc.co.uk/britainfromabov...district.shtml

Yes but it is not wildly used yet as the F-16. When that will happen is a good question.

Nice video. Looks like the old Top Gun movie scenes
The F22 looks like a really nice aircraft but as you said it will be a while before we see it in production which is kinda sad cause they could be used against Iran Nuclear facilities today if there were enough in production
You go in, bomb those MOFO and out before they even know you were there with the stealth technology.
Very powerful yet very scary in terms of the stealth capabilities.

True but I was watching the video on the F22 and the F35 before. It said that due to the fact that the stealth planes were not able to fight back such as was the case in Bosnia they are in danger when they have ground troops fight back with SAMs after the attack which is why they developed this aircraft so it can also fight back and be more agile to escape those attacks.
Not sure if this is the real reason but the videos pointed this out.

wouldnt take a lot of them to do that job but i think that's something we'd leave up to israel and they wont get a raptor til we have something better

actually i think they used the f117 first to take out ground targets but they got retired so the raptor would be used first for radar and ackack batteries then they send in the b2's...tho they might just use the raptor to hit the nuclear facilities and run...but i really dont think b2's would lead the attack there would have to be some "softening" up first...of course i could be completly wrong too ;)

It's nice to have air bases around the World and all, but never discount the F/A-18 E/F (Super Hornet) Launched minutes from your own coast!

Ok firstly its a pretty impressive aircraft the Typhoon but its still a generation behind the F22 and F35 (which is actually a closer replacement to the f16) and its not like the Israelis need a new jet the F16 and F15 will do fine its like they have any competition is it and if any one mentions Iran just go google their latest piece of crap aircraft .

After the F16 (1980) came the F18, then after that came the F22, so saying that the F16 has a competitor is pretty much a joke as its an outdated hunk of junk that the US is selling to India and Pakistan.

The Eurofighter, in a dogfight is no doubt better than the 3 aircraft listed above, it has been proven in NATO tests to rape all the other wings, but its not stealth. An F22 will fire a rocket up the EF2000's ass from 30km's away and it will only see it when its too late.

F22 rock the skys of the world for the next 6 - 7 years, till the F35 comes out, that btw is not an American product, but a joint US, UK, Fre, Ita, Ger and Spa aircraft and it should kick even jesus's ass if he trys to bother it.

Has anyone seen the SU33 in a dogfight? i got goose bumps just watching it! The Russians may have some bad pilots, but they roll out of the factory some kickass planes.

Nice looking bird. BUt it takes a HELL of a lot more than just a good airplane. It takes a great pilot and his team.. Time and again the US has proven to have air superiority.

The Eurofighter has as low a RCS as the F22 despite it only being gen 4.5. You could also have 4 Euros for price of 1 Raptor and has a much lower srvice interval...F22 is an amazing plane in theory but these factors are letting it down drastically, especially the service intervals.
Also this report of a dogfight with two F15s
The Israelis won't be allowed to get their hands on these (they were offered the chance in the late 80's and fucked us about)...Royal Saudi Air Force have them though, under the deal the RAF gets 1 year of payment breaks from their own which is the main reason the controversial deal was allowed to go through.
The biggest customer is the RAF with the Luftwaffe being second.
The real fancy piece of hardware that we have in the UK is the T45 Destroyer...the most powerful and advanced warship currently around. One T45 is able to stop any aeriel attack from any airforce in the world, and at the same time has Internet access and Ipod chargers available for all crew

The reason the US has proven air superiority is the numbers of planes they have. If you look at dog fighting they are not really good at it. They are trained to take out aircrafts from far distance which is one of the thigns the F22 is great at.
Clsoe dog fighting is not really seen in the skies as much as one use to see if because of the technology that is in these aircrafts today.
When the US Air Force enters an area it targets, it doesn't send one or two aircrafts, it sends a massive amount and that is how it is able to obtain air superiority. By owning the skies. If it came to dog fighting the Europeans which have better training in that aspect would eat the American pilots for breakfast.
Also I compared the Euro Fighter to the F16 not the F22 which has stealth technology.
The F22 is a nice bird but for the present time is not in the sky in the same numbers as the F16 and Euro Fighter.
If the Euro Fighter has stealth technology, it would eat the F22 with it's maneuverability.

You have no idea what your talking about. There's no such thing as dog fights these days; That went out in the 1970s.

I love how you say "If the Euro fighter has stealth technology it would eat the F22". Well, it doesn't have stealth technology, so your idea there is dead in the water.

Dog fighting will always be around and it will never go away. Just ask any pilot and he will tell you.
You say that dogfight went away in the 70's ? What about January 4, 1989 when U.S. F-14s shoot down 2 Libyan jet fighters over Mediterranean ?
Here is the YouTube recording of the event should you like to hear the event. http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=Jh3RhmepO2I So as you say your idea there is dead in the water.
When other countries develop stealth technology as well you will see more dog fighting coming into the picture again as pilots will have to rely on their senses and perhaps satellite imagery to see what's around them if they can't see it on radar.
In regards to your comment about my idea dead in the water, it was not really an idea, just an observation.
And again at my original posting I at no time compared the F22 to the Euro fighter but more the F16 to the Euro. The F 22 is not deployed widely yet either

the first shootdown in that f14 v Libyan vid happened at like 12 miles the second was at like 10 miles with missles that's not a dogfight imo...the last actual dogfight with a gun kill was an f4 phantom vs mig in vietnam

That was twenty years ago. These days they push a button from miles away and boom.

So what your saying is if we didn't have stealth technology, didn't have air superiority, and only fought in dog fights... Then your plane would be the best? At that point, a Cesena has a fighting chance.
