Warner Bros Wants Seven Batman Movies

While the sequel to The Dark Knight is just in the beginning stages of development, Warner Bros is already looking much further down the line. During today ?s Time Warner earnings call, CEO Jeff Bewkes compared the Batman series to the Harry Potter film franchise, saying that they hope to release a long line of sequels.

If Heath Ledger was still around to make even cameo appearances, I'd be all for it. But without him to at least sneak in from time to time, I'm not sure it has the longevity.

Perhaps they can work in Superman into one or more?

Why does so many have such a hard on for Heath Ledger, the movie franchise is very far from dependant on the joker and as much as most think he did such a ZOMG type performance, he just played the role as it should have by most competent actors would in filling the role of such a villain. Seems the only reason people are really that amazed with it is that this series more follows the tones of the comics and graphic novels and is not based on the cheese gimmicks of the first attempts at the film which was way more akin to the depth of the television show and far from loyal to the books. Batman has rarely really been about the villains as much as his own personal issues.

Even a Bane back breaker would have to be done very very well to out perform the Joker performance. And let's say it does, then what? That won't really cover the span of 6 more sequels.

There are several villains that could come into play and keep a good story going. Not that people will have to out perform the joker, they just need to portray a villain in their own way that still makes someone say oh wow.
I would personally love it if we could get the final movie in a quasi adaptation of when it becomes time for batman and superman to go at it. Of course they would need to drive the bat more insane which still has to be done. He is nowhere near wrecked in the head enough.
Trying to think of the one villain who was in a mini series, wore a hood. Also had no real powers either. Most of the story took place in Wayne's mind with him commenting on himself and this adversary. How the villain may be better at it than he is. Shit what was that. Oh well.

Anyways there are tons of stories and plot lines they can or could pull from as long as they leave the idiot villains alone and forgotten (almost all of the ones they touched in previous movies, aside from maybe 1 or so).

I hated Nicholson's Joker... but people praised him, said his performance could not be improved upon.

He was a good actor, but a terrible Joker. It's not his fault though, it's what the movie makers wanted. They did his make up, wrote the words, put him in those clothes.

The Joker didn't use knock out gas... he used poison gas. He didn't leave cards that could be analyzed, he left cards that blew up! He didn't trap people to kill them in some contraption.... he shot them between the eyes.

He's a serial killer... and what they did to his character for tv and the movies and the even the comics for a while was terrible.

But I guess it all came at a time when people didn't want their kids reading about that. It was too..... "dark".

exactly, the Joker was such a good charachter, but he was reworked so make him look like a common prankster and not a real thread LONG ago, and these "Batman" movies have sucked since the first, although I thought Michael Keaton did a better Batman than I wouldve thought.

The Joker has been made into a clown and Nicholson probably never read a real Joker comic bubble in his life, nor heath Ledger for that matter. These are Hollywood actors being told what to do, they have no concept or idea about tha actual charachter so you cant blame them, but its always the same with comic book turned movie themes, they always change the charachters.

They were comparing the Batman franchise to Harry Potter. Those were filmed back to back and came out once a year. They realized you couldnt have a 30 year old Potter. My guess is once the 3rd one is wrapped they will bump up the schedule to be similar.

They can also do a James Bond franchise type move and half way through select a new Batman/Bruce Wayne. Bale is great but the franchise can go on with a new Batman if the creative people are still attached.
