Attn Photogs - need advice on a Camera

This is for Family use (kids sports, plays, trip etc)

I want a real camera (not a little digital pocket size) like an EOS or something

and (if this term is even right for digital, lol) I want fast shutter speed, my digital now is a few yrs old and takes about 3 seconds from when I hit the button, until the picture is taken.....I MISS EVERY GREAT SHOT

Price: Id like to keep it under $1000

any help is greatly appreciated

I would suggest buying a 2nd hand camera like a Nikon D100 you should get one for a couple hundred $....

But if you have to ask you should read a book on photography first...

Any current Nikon (my preference), Canon or Sony DSLR kit in your price range will serve you well for many years.

If you can afford it, pick up the Tamron 28-75/2.8 XR Di lens. It's around $300-350 and 90-95% of the Nikon/Canon lens that costs over a grand.

he wants to keep it under 1k, so id suggest the 30d or 20d...

maybe even look into the rebel xti for quick shutter speed...

the 20 and 30 D are more capable though so...

Im canon biased so far, so also look into the similar nikon models

canon xt or canon 30d + tamron 28-75mm 2.8

I own that Tamron lens and in on my camera (40D) about 85% of the time when I shoot.
