Schools are funded mostly through property taxes. Property values have plummeted, and so have tax receipts. Add to that the number of vacant homes on which no taxes are being collected and it gets even worse. More so in California than almost anywhere else.

Which is actually funny to me.

I received a letter last week telling my my property value went up, according to the city's assessment, and my taxes would be for 2009 as well. Sure it was only $1500.00 an increase (under $2000 anyway), but that's not the point. If my house is losing value in this economy. That means tax receipts should be going down as well. Not up.

Government. Pure comedy.

Like someone else said, it was a joke. They double promoted people to miss testing years and didn't count drop outs and etc. etc. It was a numbers system similiar to Reaganomics and the catasrophie that lead the the housing crises.

Seriously, I mean it came out of Texas and was Republican backed. Has the place or the party ever done anything that wasn't a scam?!

turns out hundreds of teachers are downtown protesting the cutbacks. they will do civil unrest if necessary the news said.

at least it is making the news outlets-this is a seriously big deal right now.

I am getting letters back from the school board members I blasted. we shall see what happens.

I've been fighting the good fight on this so if I have been delayed on getting back to anyone on biz, sorry about that. I am back now though, just had to do what I had to do to support the education of kids.
