History is loaded with examples of what happens when city, state or federal powers limit private ownership of guns. It never ends well, simply look at what Quantrell did to Lawrence, KS. Or Hitler did to Germany.

People have a right to defend themselves against any threat to their life, liberty or property that right is useless without the means to exercise it.

So many people fear guns instead of the person (or government) wielding it. They think that sacrificing that freedom will give them security. They should heed the words of Ben Franklin "Whoever would sacrifice freedom for security doesn't deserve, nor will he have either one"

The misinformation in this thread is appaling...people who think private ownership of an AK47 isnt legal...guess what, it is. citizens can own machines gun, guns with silencers, flamethrowers, whatever, but as of 1969 they must have the federal stamp to do so. Not sure where your from, but hand guns in general are illegal in NYC...unless you get a permit for taget practice (which is close to impossible to get) or in law inforcement. What I meant you can banned them...but the criminals will still get their hands on them easily.

Last I checked there are no guns being manufactured in the projects in Brooklyn...so they are coming from other states.

The number one deterrent to robbery is a dog. It's a proven fact. Homes without dogs get robbed 10x more often than homes without dogs.

Plus, many criminals get guns by stealing them from law abiding citizens with guns. And many law abiding citizens with guns can become criminals for the first time and shoot up their families without warning. Not to mention many accidents are possible with irresponsible gun owners.

Really, what the hell do you need with an assault rifle?

I've given up arguing for my right to own a firearm. Fact is, I still have the right to own my rifles and in all honestly I don't see myself losing that right any time soon. If I ever do lose that right, I'll simply find an illegal firearm. End of story.
