you arent going to get all of that for under a 1k. You can get a decent camera but not all that.

For under 1000.00 in low light is the problem. You MIGHT be able to get an canon hxa1 for around 2k on ebay if you get a good low bid. It does very well in low light. But 1k is unlikely honestly.

Not looking to spend 2k right now. Will spend 2k when I upgrade again. Thanks for the help. No links to any recommendations? Anyone? I'm buying one this weekend.

Canon HV30 is awesome and well under $1000. HV40 coming out soon as well. Can't beat the quality for the price.

Not sure about the low-light aspect you're looking for as I always have sufficient lighting but other than that, you cannot beat the Canan HV's for the price point you're looking for.

I own one and it rocks... the video quality rivals most $4000+ priced cameras and I couldn't justify spending more. You can get this camera for under $600 right now and MiniDV will allow you to use almost any editor on the market. Make sure you buy a couple of extra batteries... I have found that the battery that came with it lasts about 30-45 minutes.

Yes we have an HV series as our backup camera and capture deck. The video on them is superb but in low light you won't get ideal results. With proper lighting, as mentioned above, you will get excellent quality results that are hard to see the difference between it and 4k plus cameras.

hv30 with some lights will give you a nice picture. A sony is coming out that is built off the same technology as the ex1 but its $1300. And it has a hard drive not a flash one. I recommend against those. I had one for a year and the hard drive failed dumping all the footage on it. I had taken the footage off already it was vacation stuff. I had to reformat it and now I have a 1k camera just out of warranty that I stick in the draw because I cant trust it anymore.

the canon's are pretty nice... the flash based HF10 and HF11's are pretty sweet. GL on the search.
