What are good places to live these days - comparing Arizona, Nevada and CA?

Not that it would be too urgent, but I rather use to start planning early.

What are the prices of real estate (rent / buy), real estate taxes, VAT, any other hassle I can't even know about?

Examples of cities :

Las Vegas, Nevada

San Diego, CA

What would be a good place to live in AZ?

Let's hear your experience.

Vegas appears to be a sinkhole as far as real estate prices go. Arizona isn't much better but I gotta think it's a better long term investment than Vegas - there are great deals to be had in Arizona on houses and condos, if you're looking back a year or 2 ago at what they were selling for they look like steals - but are they at the bottom or near the bottom yet - who knows. how long before values start heading back up and at what rate - who knows.

speaking as a Tucsonan, it has beautiful views and great weather, but the traffic problems are getting out of hand. The sitting is around the one million mark but the roads were not intended to handle that (all the old people that live here voted down the light rail initiative years ago)

Carlos,

Unless you enjoy scorching hot temps and traffic, stay away from Phoenix and Tucson.
I've lived in the Southwest during summertime, and it can be brutal. "Dry" heat, my ass. (Who cares about humidity when it's 115?)

But if you worship the relentless sun and enjoy traffic, Arizona is perfect.

California is your most viable option: Plenty of fine places -- warm and affordable -- on the outskirts of L.A. and San Diego. I live northwest of Los Angeles; the area is safe, clean, mild temperatures and traffic is average.

Just sayin'.

I hear that, I only need an airport so I can easily travel.

Might be I could stay in Vegas for a bit and then buy some real estate in Arizona.

LA is a cult place and everything, but I don't want to come there, unless I have someone wanting me there.

shifting the topic a bit, what are some good places to live in Czech? or maybe some other European countries like Italy, Spain, Romania, Austria.... Europe seems like such a nice laid back place to live. Tradition and architecture and culture... cool people....

There's no comparison with your choices: California tops for lifestlye.

But, the downside to California is they tax the hell out of you personally. On a business level, it's just stupid to incorporate here in California.

This state (CA) has become ultra gay on a financial level.

It's a hole here, no matter if you're in Prague which is somehow cosmopolitan, taxes are killing you, services don't work, gas, real estate, accessories, cars, ISP services are extremely expensive. People can't have fun, most of them are mediocre ignorant assholes suffering from the post socialistic be like the others syndroma, only girls here are cute and fun.

I can find more interesting ways how to spend money, than to give it to idiots, who are playing with the sheep mentality here and overprice everything.

I save about 30 pct. of my monthly fixed costs if I live in US (talking rent, gas, ISP etc.), plus much less hassle with everything, as services do work and you can relax in your free time, people are more open and easier to deal with.

I feel like a renegade, a rebel, and I know I just behave openly and with candor - something that's not in vogue here.

I'll be glad to come to Europe to see the "culture", but I'm sick of living here, as for other places

The only place I could live is Germany, as I wouldn't have issues with the language and I like the German mentality, sense of duty etc. - but look what they did with Germany - immigration, taxation, all kinds of bullshit - great place to stay but not a good place to do business.

Then I love Scandinavia, I was in Denmark, Sweden and Norway, and would prefer Denmark or Norway but then again - nice places but taxation to death and everything super expensive, I'll rather spend there holidays.

That's what they say, I'm afraid I would feel a little bit like in EU if in California in some aspects.

I love AZ, I moved from LA and am shocked at how nice it is out in Phx.

Price wise? I live on the mountain, big house, heated pool, my backyard is a mountain... and I pay less then I paid for my 800sqfoot condo in LA.

Also, if you dont like TAX dont move anywhere NEAR LA.

I say AZ. I live in Tempe and it is a cool city. The prices for houses are not to crazy right now. It is actually a great time to buy property. Sky Harbor airport is pretty close to Tempe, Scottsdale, Chandler, etc.

I won't post anything public about anything official.

Anyway, I only use computer as a work tool, well sometimes to educate myself, but I mainly praise a good eye to eye discussion.

As for gambling, I won't post anything public.

You need to highly consider Oregon. Weather is not really that bad. Very beautiful area. Pretty damn low state tax and no sales tax (which is the hidden one that fucks you in many places - with no deductions). Plus we all know your stance on potheads.

Beautiful place for sure, yeah northwest is sure incredible.

Ever since I watched the Twin Peaks series as a kid, I always wanted to visit Northwest.

So many great places but only one to settle down.

Another place someone recommended to me is Pittsburgh, a little more expensive, but cultured, with lot of coeds and a good bar scene is what I heard, and I could actually see some NHL regularly.
