Except that Obama is the administrative boss of the TSA, Obama voted for the PATRIOT Act that enables this shit, and Obama has taken all the abuses of the Bush administration and embraced them and made them his own.

So I'll say it again: Welcome to Obama's America.

yes I guess you I didn't know it has been law for a long time if you come into the states you may not carry over $10,000 in cash.

Carrying a large amount of cash is going to be suspicious - if he explained and showed them a receipt or something instead of being a cock and saying "I am not required by law to answer" they would have probably let him on the plane

1. He wasn't coming into the states. He was flying from Missouri to Virginia.

2. He only had $2700.

Other than that, great point!

The best part of this whole thing is....if that guy hadn't been stopped and questioned, and then that money went to buy weapons that were used for a terrorist attack, the same assholes complaining about this would be saying "Obama's insistence that terrorists have miranda rights is the reason we're not safe"

It's pretty ridiculous when no matter what they do, it's not right. Check more people at the airport, "you're a freedom hating nazi dictator", check less people at the airport "you're more concerned with terrorists having civil liberties than you are in keeping America safe"

I remember one vacation coming back from Costa Rica into the United States. I was 19 and visiting family that had a house there.

I had a really horrible flight and must have been rude to the American customs agent and so he flagged me.

I was scared for my life. It was 4am or so and I had these 3 really large customs agents yelling at me accusing me of all sorts of shit..

Telling me i'm going away for a long time, etc..

They could NOT comprehend that my mom would buy me a plane ticket to visit her.

They searched me.. swabbed everything I owned with little tissues and put them in a machine looking for drugs or explosives I guess.. It all came back negative..

And then they took me into a little room put on some rubber gloves and wanted to strip search me and I guess stick a finger up my ass.

At that point I had a mental breakdown and they said... Ok Ok you can go...

Fuck em.

In 2006, the PATRIOT Act was extended by the Senate. Obama voted for this extension and gave it his enthusiastic support.

It's patently obvious that this guy did this intentionally so that he could get publicity.

Why else would he just so happen to have a recording device on his person? Why else would you put that kind of cash in a bag instead of depositing it in the bank? Why else would you argue with the officers and not answer a single question, no matter how innocuous?

This was a setup all the way, and if he had made it through without being questioned, he'd be on the news talking about why does the Obama administration let people with thousands in cash in their bags through airport security without asking them any questions? Obama must love drug dealers.

There were changes made to the renewal that he voted for idiot. You made it sound as if he voted for the original version that opened the door to the Bush administration's abuse.

Revisions were made to the 2006 version inteded to curtail the assault on civil liberties.

I love how you fucking asshats don't have a thing to say for 8 fucking years about torture, rendition, Guantanamo bay, etc....but the second Obama is sworn in, and the federal govt continues operating the way it normally does, the way it has for 30 years in terms of questioning people with large quantities of cash in airports....all of a sudden Obama is big brother.

What a fucking joke.

I think it was $4700. The fact its illegal to carry large amounts of cash into the states should tell you its a bad idea to take a lot of cash on a plane then be a smartass when someone asks you about it.

Some of these TSA/customs guys are pricks, I think its part of their routine to be pricks. If you meet one whos being a prick and act like a smartass you will get in trouble. I mean seriously who doesn't know that?

I guess it goes without saying you have to be naive to support Ron Paul!

He was traveling inside of the USA with cash.

It's none of the governments fucking business what he had it for where it came from and where it was going.

Russia had border checks through the country. The USA never has. This single recording proves that each state now has a border and we are NOT free to travel as free Americans within our own country.

Call it Bushism, Obamaism, facsism... I don't care who voted for what or why. This is bullshit.

What a fucking joke.

1. I was against this shit when Bush was doing it too.

2. This hasn't been happening for 30 years. The TSA was formed right after 9/11.

3. Yes, Obama is big brother. Just like Bush.

Oh noz... the nog threatens to call the FBI, CIA and DEA on the guy. What a dip shit. And who is teaching the TSA the alphabet these days?

I would have called his bluff and let him call all of those agencies just so I could laugh at his monkey ass when they wouldn't come.

The TSA agents were probably just upset that the guy had more cash on him than either of them had ever seen before in their lives.

No, he didn't do it intentionally. He was minding his own business, trying to get on a plane, and the TSA goons detained him.

Oh, and his "recording device" was a cell phone. Yeah, what kind of idiot just happens to have one of those?

1) It's called a phone and most new ones have a voice recorder in them.

2) "That kind of cash" was only a few grand and that's not a lot of money. Even if it was a lot of cash, it was a domestic flight and there are no laws saying he couldn't carry large sums domestically. Internal flights you are suppose to inform them if you are traveling with 10k USD or more.

3) It's called "rights" and he was exercising them. I would have done the same. A few thousand dollars is not out of the norm for many people to travel with and it's none of TSA's business what I'm doing with it.

LOL,

People twist anything for Obama lol. This video is a bunch of rednecks, not Obama's fault. What would be interesting is to go up to these people questioning, and ask them how they voted in the last election. My money says they voted for McCain.

This pretty much sums up all the posts below here, so I'll just respond to this one.

You can travel anywhere you want with as much cash as you want, that's not the issue here. There are no checkpoints at state borders.

Air travel is a privilege, not a right.
You have a constitutional right to bear arms, but not on an airplane.
You have a constitutional right to free speech, but use the word bomb in an airport or on an airplane and see what happens.
If you choose to travel on a plane then you voluntarily give up your 4th amendment rights and allow them to search your bags, your person, etc.

This really has nothing to do with Obama or with the TSA for that matter. (There was still airport security and x-ray machines for baggage before 9/11)
This is really about the DEA making it hard for drug dealers and those in their employ to move large amounts of cash around. Unless you're a drug dealer, or work for one, I don't see why you would be against that.

Also, this guy was intentionally a smart ass, and you have no way of knowing what happened before he turned the recorder on, what he did or didn't do to draw attention to himself.
You can take his word for it, but the fact that it's a guy working for a "liberty campaign", goes into an airport with a shitload of cash, and then mouths off to the TSA officers...it's a pretty safe bet that this whole thing was staged from his end anyways.

100% bullshit.

We have a right to life, liberty, and happiness. This includes air travel.

Here in America we are supposed to be a free people. The government does not hand out rights as it sees fit.

What country do you live in?

Wrong.

Can you get on an airplane without having your bags searched?

That would normally be a violation of your 4th amendment rights, since without a warrant or probably cause, law enforcement is not allowed to search your property or person.

This alone is proof that you subjugate your rights voluntarily when you choose to fly on an airplane.

These rules have been in place pretty much since the dawn of commercial airlines, and since Obama wasn't born yet, I don't think you can blame it on him.

You don't have a right to air travel, you don't have a right to a drivers license, if you can't pass the test or if you break the rules too many times you lose your license.

You DO have a right to travel, and there are no checkpoints at state borders etc, but you don't have a "right" to be on an airplane anymore than you have a right to be on the space shuttle.

I also suppose you think you have a right to drive a car outside of your private property too?

Before anyone nitpicks you on that. There are actually checkpoints at state borders. They have been in place long before the patriot act, 9/11, etc. Aside from the truck ones, they have civilian ones to make sure you are not bringing certain agricultural and or animals into a given state. CA is pretty picky about bringing stuff in.

I can't point you to the statute or the case number....and I'm getting ready to leave for Easter and don't have the time to look it up....BUT

People are stopped in airports across the U.S. every day for having large sums of cash. They are questioned by the FBI, DEA, etc.

If this was an illegal practice by law enforcement, a group like the ACLU would have sued the government over this issue and it would have been before the Supreme Court by now.
This has been going on at least since the 1980's when the war on drugs started.

Perhaps you're right that you don't have to tell them, but they also don't have to let you on the airplane. I'm sure a little research would go a long way to finding out the truth about this, if that's what anyone is really interested in.

Now most of the people posting in threads like this are more concerned with their ideology than they are with facts and reason, so even if I did post a case number or statute number they'd still bitch and moan about how that law is unconstitutional and blah blah.
So believe what you want.

This was a staged event, you are no more or less free than you were before Obama was sworn into office.

Welcome to Obama's America.

Well then my bad. I've driven through dozens of states and never had to stop, never been to Cali though.

Although these checkpoints are to make sure you're not bringing in contraband, and not to "check your papers to see if you have a right to travel" correct?

Correct. No asking for ID's etc. Just fruits, vegetables, blah blah.

So therefore he must be blamed and take full responsibility. Not like he had other shit to work on before he could get to TSA issues - which can get taken care of without him.

Now you should post a picture of all dead American soldiers and post under it: "Welcome to Bush's America"

which one would you rather?
