What site is your browser home page?
I change mine based on the country I'm in and will use the best news source I can find for that area. It keeps me on top of what is going on in that area as well as alerts me of warnings and dangers.

been using igoogle, it's handy for me - clocks of different timezones with weather in multiple locations and mail.
my default browser is chrome -I like its first starting page with my top visited sites (only wish I could extend number of displayed thumbs)
