:mad Help, I WAS ROBBED!

Every morning when I let my dogs out in the backyard I take a step outside into the wet grass of my big backyard garden and this morning I was especially eager as my cherry tomatoes have been turning red over the past few days!

Well, to my surprise, something beat me to them this morning!

All I could find was this small cherry tomato on the ground as evidence, someone/something had been in my garden. ;)

Read more about this horrible tale:

http://www.congratstothewinners.com/...-tomatoes.html

To show the size of the cherry tomato that they "left" behind as evidence, I picked a fresh organic blackberry off our vine (it runs the entire fence and has been there for over 20 years) and took this image.

As many may have picked up, gardening has become a big part of my life, and I recommend it to anyone who wants to get away from things and experience a very relaxing and rewarding experience.

I'll be in the garden most of today, have a good weekend guys, see you Monday ;)

Right on, Fletch. I'm getting into gardening as well. I've been working with bananas, chili peppers, pineapples, and other fruit and vegetables in our lot. I plan to spend more time doing gardening in the future.

Make your own scarecrow

or

Beak busters
Paint a few dozen walnut shells bright red and scatter them through the strawberry patch before the berries ripen. By the time the fruit is ready for harvest, local birds will have learned to stay away from these unpalatable red globes.

I'm a gardener too - good food, good exercise, and a good knowledge to have.

It pisses me off bigtime when animals get into the garden - groundhogs here - they are persistent and strong enough to work their way past a lot of fences.

I see people tie plastic shopping bags, from walmart or whatever, to their fence. The plastic rustling in the wind, I guess, scares animals away.

We do have cats that come hang out in our yard and chase the birds. Also big egret birds that come and eat the frogs, and little field mice (voles) that will eat the veggies too. There are so many critters around here! And in the early darkness there are huge owls that stalk them all, I hear them early before the sun comes up "hoo-ing."

The hawks in the sky are giant and awesome to see too, and the flocks of parrots, the red cardinals and so many other cool birds. I think we mostly garden for the critters, and battle them for the goods.

Thank you.

Our blackberry vines produces more berries than we could possibly eat. It runs the entire length of the backside of our backyard fence, and has been there producing berries for over 20 years.

Here are some pics of blackberry I took this morning for today's entry.

Pic: Blackberry on the vine, background confederate jasmine blooming

Blackberries in hand

http://www.congratstothewinners.com/...hough-for.html

We have so many I started giving them to the dogs as treats, they love em! The oldest dog picks them off the vine if he can reach them, and even though he gets thorns on his mouth and nose it doesnt stop him! He loves the things and rushes out the door every morning to eat some with me.

This is what life is about, and I am glad to be able to enjoy these times in my life.

Ty for the compliments everyone. I gave up the self destructive lifestyle i was living to stop and look at the flowers, and its worth more than anything measured in gold.

The blackberry vine is actually (to some) a nuisance here. My brother chops the ones growing along his fence down. The vines will continue to grow back whether you want them to or not, and yes, these things grow like mad, I have to chop them back all the time too. You cannot stop it.

I took a small vine cutting and put it in pot when moved here and its spread 10 feet or so and making berries,.. when you use a cutting the new plant is mature already so it will make berries as soon as it can grow enough. its great
