I like the new member area CMS for the nastydollar sites and the fuckyoucash sites.

Looking for something similar.

You can't go wrong with MAS. It's an incredibly versatile CMS that can do just about anything you can dream up. More importantly the guys at Mansion offer support that is second to none!

MAS works and does so solidly, I have had it running my site for 4 years now. Still don't know how to really do anything with it, so I have to have the guys over at mansion do any changes etc. For someone that doesn't know anything but really basic html and what I hack my way though with dreamweaver it's way over my head, but a solid CMS.

I do wish it supported h.264 video and had a built in player, as I would like to move all my video to it, but other than that I would ahve to give it the nod.

I wish my microwave played DVDs, but that's not it's job.

JW FLV can do it, and I'm sure that Ross is more than capable of getting you setup to do so; for a hybrid solution we've been working on; he's got it displaying flash, or wmv, depending on context. All you need to do is start encoding both ways, and pay for some development time.

I'm sure that it can be done, I'm also sure that Ross can do it, I have already talked to them about developing it, in fact I have had stuff custom developed buy them in the past that became standard features in later releases. I just said, I WISH it was a working and INCLUDED feature now... so I DON'T have to have something created from scratch.

As I noted, I've already had the basis done for both flash, and other formats playable; I'm sure this is a common request. It's already done; it just needs to be adapted for your use.

I'd also like to have an embeddable player that worked for every format under the sun; hell, I'd buy it.

I agree, but that's also not what I said or what I'm looking for. in my case I want to simply encode all my existing content to h.264 and only offer h.264 in my members area. So I'm not looking for something that can play all formats, just this one. Currently I only offer the WMV format. I wouldn't think this would be that big of an issue. I have over 400 hours of video in my members area and I just thing going to h.264 would be a good move.

Well, what you want then is to pay for someone to re-encode all of your content, and just have the flash player installed into your MAS.

Since MAS can support multiple templates for movies based upon the file type (which I required), you can do it in stages, so you won't have any downtime; some movies will use the (new) embedded flash player, some will continue to embed the WMV, which was the reason for my suggestion.

I'll have to ask them again about it. As far as re-encoding the content... I have 3 Macs that can sit and batch encode using a program called Episode so not really an issue, fact my plan is to re-encode from DV anyways and actually do a little editing as I go this time...

if you can't afford more than $50 for a cms to run a paysite, don't open a paysite or go back to work at mcdonalds

anything worth a shit is AT LEAST $600 up front, and can run anywhere from $100-250 monthly

That's about the same price as MAS or CARMA, which is their competition.

You can't really compare the price to the cheaper CMS's, it's like saying the Mercedes is too expensive at 50K because you can buy a Ford Focus for 10K.

I've tried a few of the cheaper CMS's out there and let me tell you, you get what you pay for. I'm still working on a program that I could have launched 6 months ago if I had ponied up the dough for elevatedx from day one.

With software, security is not something that you either have or don't have in your product. Security is a process. It comes from analyzing all possible and present attack vectors and minimizing or eliminating those risks.

Here are some of the ways that ElevatedX minimizes those risks.

Members Area:
-------------

Input Validation: All input to our system (things like ?id=1 and posted values) are always validated. If we're expecting id to be a number, strictly convert id into a number.

SQL Escaping: If we're expecting a value that's not a number, ALWAYS make sure the data is escaped properly. For a semi-humorous idea of what happens when you don't escape your inputs, check out this comic:

Included code: We don't include code from external URLs. Our CMS is self contained, and NEVER runs code based on outside user input.

Containment: 99% of the functionality of our CMS is contained within functions or classes

Authentication: Our admin area requires a username and password to get into the system. If there are too many failed attempts at logging in for a specific user, our login page prompts for a captcha in addition to a login / password. This is exactly the way gmail works for logging in.

Permissions: Our admin area does strict checking to see if your user has permission to perform specific actions (delete sets, whatnot). While this is more of a feature than a security process, we always make sure that if you're going to do something like delete a set, you're logged in a user that allows you to do that.

Exploits and Backdoors:
-----------------------

Our software has no backdoors. We have absolutely no benefit putting them into our system. We're trying to gain new customers, not alienate them!

We currently have not run into any exploits for our software since our CMS has been released, and we're proud of this record. However, in the event that an exploit is discovered, we will address the issue immediately and upgrade all of our customers.

By choosing us, we feel you're making a safe bet.

JW FLV seems to be one of the best and affordable players out there, and it does support H.264 if member has Adobe Flash 9.0.98 or later. We can help you set it up in your members areas if you like that, you just have to take care of the player's licensing fee (20 EUR). Or you can choose another one, not a problem.

Not a big use of a bullet-proof CMS if there are other weak scripts on the same server, or if passwords are not being stored and kept respectfully.

In this regard, we always recommend our MAS customers to make use of the "Limit admin account by list of static IP addresses" feature, to be on the safe side.

Thanks for the reply here Ross, as to the player... I want to find a solution that does not use flash... I don't want flash anywhere on the site. So, if a member wanted to say, surf my site with his Iphone, he could. With the new 3g Iphone expected out in about 60 days, this will even be a better time to start the conversion. You know that I'm totally inept when it comes to this web stuff... How my site has generated as much $$ is beyond me, hell, I need you in order to even change links or anything for that matter when it comes to MAS. Is there any solution to server the video to the members in H.264 format, like You Tube does? So when a member clicks the video, it just opens in quicktime, or whatever h.264 player they happen to have?
