Losing a job can be a sickeningly stressful experience. Fortunately, you can keep taking your medicine.

Pfizer, one of the world's largest biopharmaceutical companies, launched a program Thursday providing medications free of charge to unemployed, uninsured Americans for up to a year. The initiative, called the Medicines Assistance for Those who Are In Need (MAINTAIN) program, enables Americans who have lost their jobs and health insurance this year to keep taking 70 of Pfizer's most common brand-name medications, including cholesterol-drug Lipitor, arthritis medication Celebrex and impotence treatment Viagra.

its because now these people are addicted to viagra, as most men become, and you only get the free viagra if youve been on it for 3 months, which means if you stopped taking it, you will suffer psych addictions as most men report from viagra. doctors have written about viagra withdrawl since its conception.

i think this is to cover the "addiction" news that would come from these people being denied viagra after being taking it for so long.

you cant just stop taking viagra, people build up dependency on things like that, and its been written about so much, that news like this only reaffirms it. while it may not be physically addictive, it causes addiction like symtoms in most of its patients

* Have lost their job since Jan. 1, 2009.
* Have been taking a Pfizer medication for at least three months prior to becoming unemployed and enrolling in the program.
* Lack prescription drug coverage.
* Attest to financial hardship.

if you been taking viagra for 3 months, most cant just stop. these are performance/anxiety based medications/// So to cover their ass they are giving it away. lol
