Sure. It's not illegal to wear a helmet in a car in British Columbia. So I don't know what to tell you.

Why do you suppose they wear full faced helmets in all levels of professional motorcycle racing where safety comes first but weight reduction is always a factor? Helmet manufacture lobbyists??? You'd think if it were more safe to not wear a helmet that racers would be all over that, no?

It's absolutely insane to argue that wearing a helmet on a motorcyle is LESS safe. Anyone that would argue that is crazy.

I wouldnt argue with you warchild 1 bit that its safer to wear a helmet on a bike. I personally always wear one. Just not a full helmut. But if you go down on a bike, theres a million factors that will determine outcome of your health at the end of it, no matter what helmut type you are wearing.

Sure, there's tons of factors that figure in to it. I've been down in two minor accidents and one major one. Never put a scratch on a helmet in the process, luckily enough. I quite often ride in only jeans not proper motorcycle pants. I'm well aware I'm risking some severe road rash. The risk factor is OK for me, I can handle it on my butt or thigh, even if it will suck ass. On the other hand, I don't want to drag my face down the concrete not even for a second.

I'm sure Baddog's going to argue helmets reduce your visibility and restrict hearing. It's a silly argument. My helmet doesn't reduce visibility at all. I've raced cars, lots of auto cross and what not in helmets and never had a visibility problem there either.

Like I said though, but all means, wear whatever you want. It doesn't bother me.

Race car drivers wear helmets and normally get out and walk away....

dale did not have a full face and did not walk away...

although the ratio of car drivers vs motorcycle riders is like 10,000 to 1 I think wearing a helmet on a bike is the way to go....

which reminds me

I wanted to ask you...

why is it you don't like helmet laws? out of curiosity

serious question .....

Full face helmet wearer here.

Wouldn't think of riding without one after a few tumbles I've taken and witnessed others take.

Road rash on one's face isn't an appealing thought in the least.

I like you, but the fact that you even suggested this instead of the real reason tells me you know little of the subject.

You think he died because he did not have a full face helmet? How exactly would that have helped?

I hear ya.

Have a buddy that did survive face road rash though, his facial scars remind me every time we hang out.

I used to be a sporadic helmet wearer until I bought a cruiser that just seemed to have a penchant for fucking up anyone who rode it. I bought it from a friend who had to get pins in his leg from a spill he took on it. My injury tally involved a fractured ankle, some nice road rash and a seriously bruised ego when I had a rear wheel blowout and went down a 7 foot drop off the side of the road into a tree.

Yup. Full helmet for me.

It depends what you ride and where you ride it.

If you only take your bike out a few times a year to cruise with some friends on open roads the risk/pleasure ratio probably makes it worth the risk to wear no helmet at all, if you use your GSXR every day to go to work, weaving in an out of traffic, not only should you wear a full face but a jacket, boots, gloves...
