I watched ER for like one season in the 90s, I watched King of the Hill rarely if ever. The rest of that crap - I've never seen a single episode. Not one.

ER was terrific but I suppose after this many years of it it's had it's day.
Boston Legal I'll miss.
Prison Break - never got into it, maybe in reruns I will.
Without a Trace - been dying a slow death for a while now.
Sara Connor Chronicles - Bubbye. Probably should have been a mini-series rather than a full series. At least now Summer Glau is free to do a role that puts her in a bikini more often. :D
King of the Hill - I'll miss this one most out of those listed.
The rest - never got into Earl, or Samantha who?

I'd love to see more of "The F Word". It was actually interesting, without all the shouting drama of Kitchen Nightmares or Hell's Kitchen.

I can't believe King of the Hill is still around.

I don't know a single person who watches that show. In fact, I'd say most people I know just assume the show went off the air years ago.

Bye bye shitty shows.

Breaking Bad is the best show on TV. The only reason I even turn on my TV anymore.

do you have the contact info for that person monetizing the bit torrent traffic could easily double the budget for that show.

Which would allow it to run on a smaller specialty network (comedy showcase comedy, slice etc) under significantly lower fee structure.

i would love to talk to the executive producers about it.

it has enough special effects and BTS stuff that it could easily produce 2-3 dr who confidential type show for each episode.

When you add all of the ad revenue you could get by replacing the what on now and whats on next and the clips from the next show. This show could easily cover the entire cost of production. Especially when you take into account the fact that the get to reuse the sets from the terminator salvation movie.

What do you think of the whole Chunk/Subway sponsorship? So long as the show is safe for now, I'm cool.

But this seems to be right in line with what you often suggest here.

yeah it was good, subway doubled their product placement payment for chuck for the new season, heavily subsidizing the cost of the show. That being said that means there will be even more subway intergrated storylines so the show could get more annoying

What would have been a lot better would have been to
a) get a signage product placement like iphone +++ to buy the branding bug rights
b) creating enought long term subsidization to more it to usanetwork after burn notice.

That being said it now leaves the opening for mowe to fill that spot so hopefully something like that can happen.

I'm bummed they picked up Dollhouse instead of TSCC. It seemed like TSCC really found itself in those last few episodes.

King of the Hill was actually a pretty unique show. It didn't make me laugh, but it was a good take on contemporary America and I always enjoyed it. I think people overlooked the subtlety of that show, especially compared to shows like Family Guy, which I also like.

Add The Unit to that list. The series finale was a couple weeks ago and they wrapped things up fairly nicely and left it open for more if it had been picked up. Not many good military shows out that and this show had a real good cast.

My name is Earl sort of catches me off guard. Especially considering what other crap tries to pass as a sitcom or general brain candy.
I need to check the list out for full details. Since I am especially annoyed with all of the assorted reality type shows and game shows that seem to have been taking over.

your an idiot, this solution would make a tiny fraction of the money that traditional commercial ads on tv make fox. They would not be the ones interested in this it the actual show producers who only get 4/26 commercials from fox for their shows.

If anything fox would rather see a low rating show die, blame bit torrent for the failure then "fix" the problem like this (creating competition)

advertisers care about viewership, and for a show like sarah conner which has more bit torrent downloaders then live viewers. there is the possiblity to save a show specifically because the stations take such a big cut of the total ad revenue.

I liked Boston Legal and Dirty Sexy Money. I guess they need to replace them with some sort of lame ass reality show instead.

ER was solid as well but they had a good run.

I wonder how many more shows need to die before the tv execs adapt to the new age of tv.

Advertisers and creative/development houses are also to blame. I've met some creative directors who swear the internet is a fad, and people will once again start watching television programs on their tv's and start reading news from their newspapers. These are the same people who feed bullshit to their clients (the advertisers) and convince them that a 30 second spot is more effective than, say, a silent animation at the bottom of the screen that appears during the television program.

as a person who has done split testing on this for our company branding bugs
i can tell you that the silent animation properly placed is 12 times more effective then 30 second commercial (assuming one advertiser per show)

it 20% more effective then show exclusive pre roll ads because it intergrated in the show and you can't do something in another tab while your waiting for the show to buffer enought to watch it cleanly.

the problem is that exclusively selling the ad per episode even with segmentation by format would still only bring in what the show producers (C2- in terminator case) is getting from the broadcast station, and not the lion share of the revenue that fox is getting.

So of course the tv stations would rather sue what is really their future competition into oblivion that embrace the technology.

This doesn't surprise me one bit. The traditional media folk will never understand this. I've worked at creative agencies here in NYC and I have yet to meet an art director who will opt for a bug vs a 30 second spot. The 30 second spots is their chance to shine. It's their 30 second canvas where they can be as creative as they choose. Except, being creative is not what they're being paid to do. They're being paid to make their clients money, even if it means throwing away the opportunity to work on a 30 second commercial.

They piss me off.

I heard "the unit" has been cancelled too, such a shame the last season has been pretty nice.

From what I've read, they have said that fartherest they might take the tie ins would be to chage the frozen yogurt place the Sarah character works at to a Subway.

This might not work for Subway and the show, but it's definitely a move in the right direction.

actually according to the info i got, the doubleing of the product placement includes some subway cross promotion as well. Sort of like the burger king stuff that happens with big movies (wolverine/xmen) where actors appear in subway commercials/toys gimmics/value meals.

that being said the subway intergration is way over the top already. Look at the 3d episode they had a subway eating contest.

The att and iphone product placement is really subtle.

I would rather see that get a pop from branding bugs turning the subtle inclusion into a 6 minute feature by feature advertising.
