The last 3 pcs and a laptop I bought off of http://www.tigerdirect.com and I've never had a problem with them. I normally pay for next day air or 2nd day just cause I hate waiting for things to come after I pay for them. They always come when they say they will and give you all the tracking info

what's so good about Tiger Direct? i don't see that much choice in PC systems - HP, Systemax which i am assuming is their house brand, Lenovo

i want a place that has pre-configured systems as a base and then you can choose options to upgrade components.

yes but you can also dual boot with Windows anyway on it if you want

much easier to do it that way rather than buying a pc and hacking OSX on to it, do it man.

Do some research and build it yourself, be aware of issues. You can really create awesome setups on your own though.

Motherboard & associated ram
Video Card
HD & DVD Burner[s]
Case & P/S
ETC.

Not much to it.

then WTF is the point of getting a Mac? Here's an idea if OSX is so fucking good why doesn't Apple sell it to PC users? I've never gotten that. There are million of people like me that will NEVER by an Apple. Not as long as it's 50% or more than a comparable PC and has very few upgrade options. However I might consider using OSX is I could get it for the PC and it priced similary to Windows. Wouldn't Steve Jobs want SOME money from me rather than NONE? You'd think after 30 years he'd get this.

maybe not for some people but i really wouldn't trust myself to put together a PC together from scratch. putting a computer together is more than putting a chair together from IKEA. lots can go wrong, mostly from me winging a board against the wall when something doesn't fit right. rather pay somebody.

i bought a mouse not long ago and the pin connector thingy wouldn't snap in - so i used my tried and trued method of just continuuing to jam it in until it submits - i ended up with a completely mangled useless mouse.

Hey Mutt, if you really do want a PC and not a MAC I will build one for you. I have done a ton of custom systems over the years. I only charge $100 over the cost of the components/shipping/tax, etc. You pay 50% up front, I buy the components, put it together, ship it to you, you pay the other 50% on receipt of tracking #. I have sold one to Barefootsies on here.

Not to shit on you, this is actually quite cheap to have it custom built, but shit, a dell w/ a year warranty is only like $300 if you don't want to be 4000fps gamar mastur.

Haha I hear you! I've had 2 self built pcs but both of them were built by someone other than myself for those same reasons.

If you want something custom then take a look at that place posted up there or do a search locally for computer shops in your area.

I just like Tiger Direct cause they seem to have the high end and low end covered and if you have enough time you can find a nice computer for what you are looking for. Another nice thing about them is their "factory refurbished pcs". These are not year old pieces of junk that cleaned up and re sold. They are new smelling machines that run as great as the ones that are brand new for a lot less money.

I've ordered stuff from other places like amazon too but you have to be careful cause a lot of the stuff they sell is not from "amazon" but other retailers and some of them are fly by night places that will put your stuff on backorder after you've already paid for it. I buy my blue rays from Amazon cause they are from amazon and i can get them overnighted.

I just like Tiger Direct cause I've bought things from them 15-20 times and not once did anything come later then they said it would or have i had to return anything due to being faulty.

There is no way I would build a system where the components added up to under $1000

All of it. You haven't done enough research. If you did you would realize that Apple computers aren't much more than their PC counter-parts. Find me some pc notebooks with DDR3 ram, geforce graphics, etc, where the prices are much cheaper than Apple Macbooks.
You won't. Apple doesn't use shitty hardware.

Thanks.

if you want fairly good service if something breaks, buy a dell. If you know what you want or want to build / be responsible for your own machine then go through newegg or tiger. I work for the one I mentioned but really the only thing that makes my side of things different is I work directly with corporate IT departments, providing myself and my resources to them and do it better than Dell and tiger/newegg are a different business model as they dont really offer a dedicated rep.

Its all in what you want and need But any of the new machines out there will do what you need unless you are doing a lot of video editing or gaming. Thats when the differences in machines start to matter.

Sometimes the mouse interface isn't always compatible with your system.

NO you dont get it OSX only works with a few boards and a few video cards.

If microsoft made windows to only run on 10 boards nothing else it would be just as stable as OSX

LOL

much easier to do it that way rather than buying a pc and hacking OSX on to it, do it man.
As someone that's been running hackintosh for years... with half the cost of the hardcore apple fans... I tend to disagree... I can boot... not just a mac os... but any commonly used os, from any of my machines... very easily... Don't let misinformation get the best of you.

Yeah, NewEgg.com is top notch, ultra fast, and usually pretty good pricing.

I never bought a pre-built system there, but whenever I decide to build a new system or need a part, that's the place I go.

Newegg.com and their sister site ChiefValue.com are the only places I shop.

Tigerdirect or Newegg

You could always go to Dell also.

Newegg.com

You buy all the parts then call someone from geek squad to assemble it. That's what I did. Saved like a grand from if I would have bought it in a store. Never buy a PC in the store.. ever..
