Republicans are against universal health coverage yet most of them are on Medicare

Every republican I know is either 70 years old or certifiably mentally ill and yet every one of them is against universal health care, but they sure love their Medicare or Medicaid.

Universal Health Care is Government Health care. Medicare is government health care, so why fuck up the whole system by forcing everyone to have government health care??? Do you think once the government covers your health care you can walk in to a Beverly Hills doctor and get treated??? I think not. We have welfare. We have Medicaid and Medicare, which is all health care. If you want to reach out to the people who do not have private health care, then make Medicaid more available to those people so they can have government health care. Don't force the rest of us to have government health care!!!

I hate that word Universal Health care, it sugar coats what is really is, it's government health care and it is not going to be great health care, just check out the Medicaid and Medicare people!!!

Since 1965 pensions and retirement health care pay packages are very different today because of Medicaid. Business factored in Medicaid and don't offer health insurance like they probably would of been doing otherwise after retirement. Those 70 year old Republicans paid their health insurance premiums all throughout their working years and because Lyndon Johnson's Great Society they didn't get retirement packages they might have got otherwise. Calling them hypocritical is not factoring in what Medicare did to their job market.

Thats the funniest part... If medicare is broken and broke how the hell is govt healthcare gonna work? Govt needs to get the fuck out of shit all they do is fuck shit up. Worry about borders, security and liberties... other than that private sector does everything the govt does, but better and more efficient. and they want more govt health care... no thanks...

There has to be another way than what they are proposing.

Insurance companies do nothing to improve health care. I've never heard anyone adequately make a rational case for how putting an extra for-profit layer between patients and doctors improves outcomes. They're just parasites that don't produce anything. You should hate them for what they've done to a this country; they've killed more Americans than Al Queda. We need a true not-for-profit option; let it be voluntary, and soon the public will figure it out for themselves. End the scam. Take the burden of insurance off businesses, and free people from the fear of their family losing access to health care if they leave or lose their job. Do not believe any of the lobbyist propaganda about how horrible things are in Sweden, England, Australia, New Zealand, etc etc etc. You don't see them begging for an American-style health care system. Public health care covers everything medically necessary for every citizen, all at a much lower cost, so long as you don't have a bunch of bribed and ignorant anti-government reactionaries sabotaging it. And for the wealthy (myself included) there will always be private plans and private hospitals, so no fear of losing your place at the front of the line or that nicely furnished private room.

I don't think we will have a universal care system like they have in Canada or the UK (or many other outcries). Most likely we will have a system where the government runs a health insurance company of sorts (like existing medicare/medicaid) and anyone who wants in can get on it. I think they will make you pay if you have the money, if you don't you will get it for free and those who have their own existing health insurance will keep it. So ours will be universal in that anyone can get on it, but it won't force everyone to join it.

How we will pay for it is another whole question.

Gotta love a country that looks at it's sick citizens as profit centers.
