What motherboard to get with the Core i7?
I'm building a new machine so I can work with HD video better and curious as to what motherboard any of you are using with this?
Also, if you are also using the Core i7 for video, what else have you done to your system to beef it up? Thanks! ![]() |

I have a pre built I 7 machine that i upgraded and nothing I have seen even comes close!
Specs: X58 chipset i7 2.6 12 gigs of ram 320 raptor 1000rpm drive dual ATI 4890 GPU's 1000watt power supply 8x LG Blu Ray burner 20x LG DVD burner All in one media card reader and tons and tons of storage drives, all 1.5 terabytes each. Make sure you put in at least 750watt power supply this baby needs juice! The I-7 core is the best thing out to date! A friend of mine has the new Dual Xeon Power mac it does not encode as fast as a single true i-7 core |

Both any and all , seriously.
I mean the higher quality the faster as it has less encoding to do of course, but almost the same time either way. I love the the i-7! |

I am not here to cause stress, giving the i-7 more power makes it render much faster.
I render full true HD 1080p 30p or 24p 1080i to 24p is an upscale that is slowing down the algorithms in processing. I shoot with a true full HD video camera ( SONY EX1 ) which captures in 1920x1080p , 24p , 30p so I dont have to upscale. Having more ram helps very much, I have 12gigs of DDR3 but the power supply is key. The i-7 needs lots of power at any given time. I truly render almost in real time, maybe i have a freak machine |

there are several i7 power supply calculators out there that provide an accurate power need profile, it's a smart idea to check them, as i did, when building a spec box.

Well it is! The PSU is where all the other components get their food, c'mone its easy to figure out! If you dont fuel the parts with enough power , it will fail, or not peform up to its fullest potential. Its that simple.

It will probably come down to the Asus P6T deluxe v2 vs the EVGA 132-BL-E758-A1.
Both are great boards, but the EVGA has better support. When you call, you'll actually get someone who knows what they're talking about, and speaks english.
