![]() Hi,
Can anybody suggest a good software against download managers other than throttlebox? Already have phantomfrog and ip con installed. Had throttlebox installed previously. I have a bandwidth limit on my site, but people bitch about that. I don't mind them downloading as much as they want - I just don't want any download tools to be used. I'd drop the bandwidth resctriction, if I could get rid of the tools. Any suggestions for that? Thank you. |

I'd like to talk to you some more about the details of your experience
and what you want to achieve. Strongbox by itself will generally block abusive use of download managers, whether that abuse be by queuing up 16 hours worth of downloads and letting it run overnight, or site ripper type use, where the customer doesn't click on certain videos they actually want. Strongbox will allow legitimate download manager use - the customer clicks on the two or three videos they want to watch. To make that more effective, you can add the antislurp code to your page templates. Send me an email or give me a call, if you would. |

Hi sugardaddy,
PhantomFrog includes a Bandwidth Protection feature in which you can set bandwidth restrictions selectively by member username. Frog also provides a 30-day bandwidth history report by member which lets you monitor their activity. Also, download managers usually log into an account to download a file using the same IP as the person who initiated it, so downloads occuring under this kind of software will be subject to the same restrictions. Now, there is also a free Apache Module which works on Apache 1.x and 2.x which may also be of use to you. http://dominia.org/djao/limitipconn.html Quote:
