sell exclusive content or launch own site?

As I may have mentioned I have been shooting content for a guy in Hawaii out here in AZ, and he's off on deployment a lot so it's hard to get funding to shoot content. I have a TON of downtime.

Downtime which I'm using to learn how to launch my own site using content I am funding.

After reading this board the last week or so I think I might be better off shooting content and selling it to make money to pay for more content and so on.

I have access to a ton of girls that have never been in front of a camera before, from hot blonde chicks to ghetto ass black bitches, just the "budget" I'm on working for this guy kinda fucks me on quality. I don't mind spending money out of pocket to start making a name for myself and really being able to provide great content with girls that won't be seen anywhere else on the web.

Do you guys think it would be worth it to either sell exclusive or semi-exclusive content to people that purchase that kind of thing (I can pretty much shoot any scene to the purchasers requirements) or should I keep chugging along shooting content for my own site and the one I work for?

Unless you're shooting something drastically different you're bound to fail hard in this economy coming in as a newbie. There are much bigger individuals and companies struggling and they've been doing this for years.

Do what you do best and never sacrifice quality. If you can produce high quality content that programs desire it’s a no-brainer. Keep shooting.

If you want to venture out in to the paysite world I highly recommend you “let the pros do what the pros do”. Talk to the right people, do your research and hire them to set you up with a program.

That's exactly what I'm doing. Reading a lot, asking questions here and there, and soaking in all the information I can.

I understand basic business enough to know that unless you have something that nobody else has and nobody knows they want until you present it, it's much easier to fail than profit. This shit is SO much more in depth than I could ever imagine that I'm glad I'm not just diving into something not knowing I'm going to fail. I figure I'll launch/work for a handful of sites and go through a handful of business models before I figure out what works.

Luckily I'm in the position that I can handle the grunt work, finding and shooting models and building content and asking the right questions and hopefully hiring the right people to help me and teach me until I'm able to handle it on my own. The more in depth stuff like actually building and coding a website, setting up traffic and affiliates and stuff is still something I'm doing a lot of heavy reading on.

I am definitely not someone looking for a get-rich-quick solution. I understand those really don't exist anymore in this industry from what I've read.

Anyways the whole point of this thread was just kind of a feeler to see how many people shoot and sell exclusive content and how well it works out for them? I have a bad habit of rambling.

What I'm gunning for isn't completely mainstream but isn't something you can easily access. I'm keeping my options open and might have a line on a super hot duo for a mother/daughter site. Right now I'm just trying to probe a little and see what input I can get from the more experienced guys/gals on this site.

to sell content you need someone who buys - and those are getting less and less.

if you can afford it get into a specific but underdeveloped niche, start learning about how to generate your own traffic and while you do that shoot your own content and make no compromises in quality.

then set up your own sites and take affiliates only as secondary source of traffic, keep building own sources

at least that's what i would do if i would start all over again

Find something niche, very niche, and do it well. Don't waste your time with general girls or general porn. If you don't know how to run sites, then sell the content to larger programs who have the money to pay for it, or partner with them on it.

I am very new at this game as well.... I have been shooting for years, for other paysites.
Now i launched my own paysite www.sundeviangels.com ...

So, i shoot content for other clients to make money , pay bills, and pay talent for my own site, I do both. I have a few members to my site and i have not even advertised my site at all by any means yet, no promotion yet , and still people seem to find it and join.
It has almost caught up even, in what i have paid the talent.

So if you have enough time do both.. Do a paysite and still shoot for others , separately of course.

They key to any real website is what most of these big guys will not share.. The real magic comes having fresh new girls that no one else has shot! New girls are what sell more than anything. That is a fact! The idea of a new girl that no one has all fucked out, or shot out, a girl that the viewer can keep in his mind to himself is what really sells.

I am the MASTER of finding all NEW GIRLS!! Many websites have made way too much money from the NEW girls that I found and or discovered! Now its my turn!

So keep this in mind when you are shooting, content for others or shooting your own content.

The mother/daughter site would be $$$ do that for sure.

Also, my suggestion build a site with your content and also sell it semi-exclusive but thats just my 2 cents.

Know your niche - the mother daughter stuff is good and sells well to the right traffic - but then so do most micro-niches - with "the right traffic" being the key.

If you decide to build your own pay-site, start building traffic now. Create a few blogs/free-sites/legal-tubes etc in that niche and promote existing programs while you build traffic. If you can create enough niche traffic to make money, then build your own site and start directing the traffic to that site.

if you can't make money promoting the niche - don't invest heavily in it.

just my

Don't start a paysite, regardless of how original the content is. Without YOUR OWN traffic and the ability to get traffic you'll doomed from the start. The "build it and they will come" business plan will leave you starving in the streets. And if you are shooting any models and not paying them up front and offering percentages/money later you'll also be doomed.

Sell the content however you can or partner with a larger program. Neither will lead to riches but at least you have a stronger chance of making back whatever investment you put in.

True. There are too many shooting general content and thinking you can move up market if the budget is right is wrong.

I would advise you find other sponsors to shoot for rather than relying n one, moving to a niche you don't understand or opening a paysite in this market.
