umm the very sad part is there are companies that are selling repair insurance. Of course it's a scam, but doesn't stop them for advertising on TV non stop. US fidelity is one of them

thank you i didnt even feel like bothering, that argument is so stale its pathetic. Not only are we already paying for people, we are paying for births for all the immigrants who come here already pregnant and have no healthcare. There is million dollar (possibly more) industry based on bringing pregnant women from all over the world here to birth, including Asian countries, Russia and Arabs, and our central American friends.

We already paying, and the costs are causing hospitals to close, had 14 hospitals close in Cali while I lived there from the birth industry alone.

The hospitals could always find ways to fund those who can not pay. It is part of business.

So then you are asking them to put in place a fund raising mechanisim that will allow them to raise money like a non-profit. There is nothing fundamentally wrong with that. most public hospitals are not for profit businesses anyway. But when you rely on donations you are almost always in a budget crisis. I have known several people in my life that worked for non-profits that worked only on donations and fund raising and all they ever talked about was having to hustle to get money. In the good times, things would work fine. But what about times like right now when people are scaling back. Most charities right now are feeling the squeeze. If the hospital doesn't get enough money from donations to keep running then what?

there is no easy answer to any of this. Maybe a combination of all of the above. Hell why not ask insurance companies that are making record profits right now to donate some of that money.

I honestly cannot remember and I am not finding anything on Google...but isn't Texas one of the states that take more from the Treasury than they contribute?

I love that most of the red states take more money than they contribute, but they go on and on about being conservative.

If they want to have a leg to stand on, they should probably work out their own budgets to where they do not need Uncle Sam's bailouts...

In other news, has Texas seceded yet? If not, how can I help to ensure it does?

right now in the news locally, they are talking about how texas is crying and moaning about people displaced from Hurricane katrina still in Houston area and demanding money per head from gov lol because states get $12k per citizen lol
